YOUR FIRST ALBUM

I grew up in Philly and still live in the far northeast. I miss those days in the Spectrum. I lived real close to the Empire Rock Club and spent my fair share of time there too.

One memorable Spectrum show was Ozzy, Bark at the Moon (Motley Crue opened). There was so much pot, I think the cloud came down and gave everyone a contact high. I didn't do any at that show.

I went to school at Drexel U in Philly in the mid 70s. A group of us went to the 1976 Yes, Frampton, Gary Wright (Dream Weaver) concert at RFK stadium. It was right after Frampton Comes Alive came out. Yes was top billing but Frampton smoked them, it was a great show. Turns out it was one of the largest outdoor concerts at 130,000 people there.

Looking back at the 8-track: extreme Love/Hate relationship.
Few younger than their mid to late 40's have probably ever heard or experienced the agony of the deck eating the tape.
Moving tape heads: I think the designers knew they had a very limited range for fidelity or advancement with that technology.
But, bringing a cartridge based recorded music platform to the car driving experience didnt need to be all that hi-fi either.

I read somewhere the cassette had already been developed but at the time the material used for the slip sheets was not satisfactory to allow the reels to turn smoothly.
The advancement in chemistry tech of plastic polymers had yet to catch up.
