If I haven't had any coffee by noon, I get a headache... I tell you, it takes a lot of coffee to brew good beer!
At work the coffee is quite bad (but I drink it for the caffeine), but at home I usually buy good stuff; always whole beans and from a variety of small roasters. I subscribe to a coffee bean delivery service which sends me beans from different Scandinavian roasters every month. Sounds like I'm a right snob, eh? I usually brew it in an Aeropress, and sometimes in a French press, My favorite coffees tend to come from Ethiopia, where the fruity flavors are quite prominent. But a smooth, dark roasted Brazilian one is also great for using in my Bialetti pot.
I drink LOTS of coffee. I actually talked to my doctor about it once, and his message was clear: Don't worry about it. There is lots of good stuff in it, and if the caffeine doesn't mess with your sleep (it actually does, so I never drink coffee after six in the afternoon), go ahead.
That first cup of coffee before breakfast on a Saturday morning, ah, it's one of the things I live for. One of life's simple pleasures that makes it all worthwhile.
