Yearly treck

[Session 5]

All year long i change my strings, keep my guitars clean, at the 6 month mark remove all strings clean and oil fretboard polish frets. And at the year I take them to my Guitar Coach who is also my tech guy, and give them their yearly checkup.

So this week i have been taking all 5 guitars in, today the last one will be picked up today. Now will be good for another year. I am a firm believer you look after them , they will play well for you.

Well just picked up the last guitar happy to have them all back at home. What work do you do, or have done to keep your axes in good working order. Or do you do very little maintenance on them?

I change strings once it breaks or if it becomes too old. my hands sweat a lot and I pick aggressively.

I clean them after each play

They need tech but Im too tight to take it to a tech.

Change guitar strings every six months? Blasphemy...
I don't even change the oil in my car that much.

Seems like the longer they've been on, the better they stay in tune, as long as they don't funk up with rust & tarnish.

Good to see you here Hack! I change my strings as soon as they become dull sounding . I play 2 hours a day sometimes more, so about every 3 months I change them out.

I have no problem with the string set I use. They are as light as a feather and they never corrode when exposed to air. They are light gauge and my DiMarzio Air Norton pickups pair well with this string set. They are guaranteed not to brake...air brake that is.
