Would you buy this strat for $1200?

Another thing I ask myself and Grumpy Betty and therefore it applies to the rest of the forum. Canadians, Brits and Dutch and South Americans and Pacific countrymen etc.
This $1200 we keep referring to, Who's $$$$$$$$$$ currency are they? Maybe it is really like 5000000 pesos or something. Is that Korean WON $$$, Euro $$$ Greek $$$$$$$$$$$ Japanese equivalent to $$$ .

WHAT are the 1200?

I pretty much always talk in the mighty U S of A imperial dollar - just makes things easier.

Many interesting comments on here, keep up the good work.

Since I got the jnr, I've come to the conclusion that it's much better to try out the guitar in person if possible. I reckon in a sale here that the MIJ hybrid would be 1000 US. The standard 60s start which I'm not interested in would be 800 or so.

Everyone should own at least one Fender, shouldn't they? Or a GnL...

Something I really dislike about my MIJ tele was the tussrod at the neck pocket, just stupid...

Of course everyone should own at least ONE Fender :ROFLMAO:

Colours... For some reason I'm liking the Flamingo Pink.

My last Fender (MIJ) was Candy Apple Red with double cream binding - that guitar was a good looker, but I never bonded with it.

I wish I'd kept that little Randall - 1 watt of powerful OD; lovely it was.

^ regarding P90s, as some folks have touched upon it on the recent P90 thread: that Gibson humbucking P90 in the Epi SG above sounded nice, but nowhere near as good or versatile or as much bite or as smooth as the dogear P90 in my SG jnr, imho.

The MIJ electronics were mentioned, so here's a shot of the innards:

There's actually quite a good selection of MIJ strats at reasonable prices here in Korea.

This Fujigen is $800 and probably a better guitar than the Fender; I prefer the tuners, and the SD pickups are probably a safe bet too.

스쿨뮤직 - Fujigen J-Standard ODYSSEY Electric Guitar (JOS-CL-R/AWH)

They do have MIM strats here, but they are getting pricey:
(I wouldn't pay $850 for a Mexican strat - probably nowhere near as good as the Fujigen above(?).)

스쿨뮤직 - Fujigen J-Standard ODYSSEY Electric Guitar (JOS-CL-R/AWH)

This Edwards is nice with lacquer, but $1450 is plenty of money for a MIJ strat:

스쿨뮤직 - [앰플리튜브증정]EDWARDS E-ST-125ALR SOB / 에드워즈 스트랫 일렉기타

A nice Fugijen lacquer and hardcase for $1250:
(I think I prefer the spec of the earlier Fugigen at $400 less although I do prefer lacquer finishes.)

A Greco for $850:

Lots of nice looking guitars at nice places, but this place doesn't have a shop you can visit, and I got a PRS from there which had a couple of defects and took a bit of effort to get changed... So, a bit of a shot in the dark - the Fujigens look good at the price.

Let me ask ya something. How does Korea handle if someone buys Parts for things when imported into that country?

Kind of like, let's say you bought a guitar Neck, or guitar body, or guitar Pickguard loaded with pups etc?

They tend not to tax any imports under $400. But, the transportation costs here from the US are high.

This is a great Strat!! for around $1,100 The quality is excellent, comes with Seymour Duncan P rails JBjr in bridge, with custom made Godin pickups in neck and middle.

Go go Godin

I can score you a MIM fender strat dif 500 or less........just saying

The Godin Progression Plus for $1,100 which quality of build and hardware is comparable to U.S.A made Strat which you will pay $1, 800 big savings with the Godin.

Say Grump -- can you get MIM Strats there?

I truly am AMAZED -- on a damn near Daily Basis with this one

looks--sounds--feels-- excellent-- came pre "damaged" and dinged with a few battles scars--- but it sounds like Angels---

Y'know, in a lot of ways, these are the "purest" Strats, I think. They are closer to the simple ideal than just about anything else that Fender is currently making, and really, they are priced at what a simple, bolt-together guitar with poly finish should cost.

Yeah, Grumpy... I've become interested in your interest of the Fender Strat. Do you want one because you want to have a "Fender" in your arsenal? Or, will any Strat-type guitar do it for you? Are you looking for the best Strat guitar you can get with a $1000 - $1200 budget?

I mentioned G&L because, uhm, I'm a very biased fan of their products. No one can do a better production Fender Strat than what G&L can do. The quality of their guitars is immediately felt even before you plug one in. G&L "Fullerton" guitars (Which means that these G&Ls are made in Fullerton, California, USA) are Leo Fender's creations without big corporate's interventions. The ultimate Leo Fender designed Strat is the G&L Comanche, with its unusual MFD Z-Coil pickups. This was Leo's final vision for his beloved original Stratocaster creation. For a more traditional pickup attire, look no further than the G&L Legacy and the S-500.

If you ever get a chance, try a USA-made G&L "Anything".

^^ this, X10

I've owned 5 G&L's at various times. They are exceptional quality, exceptional value, and have some of the best pickups available. And their vibrato bridge is the best on the market, period.

I think this is written in stone somewhere...

Every G & L USA Made I have played were great high quality wood unlike to MIJ Fenders. It's a buyers market now I would be looking
at buying the Fender USA Custom Shop guitars at 50% off list now. Never know you might find a original pre-cbs
Billy told me our friend Mark found one helping a old woman move gave him a 1960 Stratocaster to take to the garbage mint red gold hardware free.

I can score you a USA Fender Grump -- used ones are in the 500-700.00 range (or less at times ) if you dont mind some wear----

Good question(s).

Hmmm, I could get a low cost strat, 300 dollars, a Cort 260, which would be, to me, as good as a mim. But, a nice Fender would be nice to own, nicer to own, for me. I like my Gibson for many reasons, but I suspect that one of those is that it's a Gibson...

A G&L, a Fujigen or an Edwards would also float my boat if it played and sounded especially good to me. I wouldn't want to keep a $1000+ guitar unless it was really really good, special even.
