Working on a new song

Badge ( Cream ) or Clapton if you will.

Eric Clapton (UK) is the only musician to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on three separate occasions: for his work with The Yardbirds (1992) and Cream (1993) and finally for his solo career (2000). John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Jimmy Page, Paul Simon and Neil Young are among the 21 performers to be inducted twice since the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was established in 1983.

Good luck sir. I tried for like 15 minutes years ago, At that time, beyond my capabilities.

I tried many years ago to do some covers but something creative happens before i get through it seems. Do respect players that can cover very much. Can do free for all jams live but just can't cover for some reason. Can't even play in the church band lol but could absolutely solo through it all just tell me the key or scale & if its P&W give me Edge's pedal board lol so i can sound like hillsong

The Rock n Roll abomination.
Great accomplishment but that establishment made a left turn years ago. They lost sight of reality .
I do however wish you well in your endeavor.

Sorry if derailed your post. I think it's great to go for playing songs that mean the most to you.

Had to read that several times. Then I read it again after engaging this old brain of mine. Regarding Rock HOF. No comment on how they lean politically.... but as an organization.... There's a reason it's referred to as the Rock and Roll Hall of Shame. It's become a joke.

Apparently you can leave a comment here with no repercussions if it's left leaning. I learned this from another thread.

Congrats on your tune, 5. Rock the casbah bro.
Uhm…. Not sure if that was aimed at me or not…. But if me… I was making no political statement about the RHOF. My statement was all about how it’s become a joke. As in. When a country singer that’s never done a rock album in her fairly long career can get nominated and inducted into the rock hall…. The HOF has lost all credibility. And I love Dolly. But nothing about her suggests rock and roll.

Noooooo, that was not aimed at you at all, sir. It was more of a general slur on my part but I've removed it so no misinterpretations are made. :)

TRRHOF is nothing but a business trying to survive so to sell out to them means nothing. They are just trying to milk their relevance for so long until the younger generations relate 0 with them. Then it's game over for them. I completely agree with you.

Exactly. I think she was so embarrassed over the whole deal, she’s making a “rock” album with several rock musicians as guests. Think it’s got a November release date.

I was going to mention that, but didn't. It'll be interesting to see what she does, but I'm afraid it's probably going to be lame/cheesy covers. I hope I'm wrong.

Only song and artist I’m relatively interested in is Kevin Cronin from REO. Read an article where he was interviewed. Said when he wrote the song he was in a dark place…. But when the song was released it took on its own life. More upbeat. He said that the way he and Dolly are doing it is more like how he intended the song. And sorry. Don’t remember the song and too lazy to google it.

And sorry about hijacking your thread Norm.

No worries Rick..

Yes am making some headway. Have now downloaded the song onto my Mp3 player to help me along. I purchase the music legit from company in France. Its a great song to learn to play.

Funny thing is today two young guys who delivered some furniture for us got to talking music, I told them I play Classic Rock they both said that's cool. The young guy who i would say to be of the young age of 23 asked me if I had been working on any music, I said yes I am working on the song Badge, the young guy said wow that's a great song! He said he loved Classic Rock.

A young man after my heart. (y)

Sorta did same thing with a song I’ve been working on. Downloaded the tune off the CD into ITunes…. Then copied the MP3/4 file into Reaper. Doing that let me slow the song down while keeping it in proper key. That was very helpful.

And this song is so old and mostly unknown by the masses, there are no TABS I can pull up on the internet.

That's good Rick, I find my MP3 player one of the most useful pieces of gear I own. Last time I checked, I have now 43 songs that I play along with, Rhythm , sometimes mix Rhythm with lead. Keep practicing stay with it. Like I" always say practice makes permanent.."
