Why do we pay so much $$$ for gear ...

I owned so much recording gear, it was still worth tens of thousands when I sold it. Nice mics, Genelec monitors, a Fuchs ODS amp… and that doesn’t include the thousands upon thousands I spent on plugins and Virtual Instruments I still own.

I cut it all down to a Kontakt keyboard, a little red Focusrite interface, and an AT2020. It works great, and thanks to all those VIs, there’s nothing I can’t do that I could before.

These days, cheap stuff is as good as expensive stuff from 20 years ago.

I don't judge what a person spends their money on nor do I care much either.

If a nice person is having the time of their lives then I'm just happy for them.

While of course there are times I might think to myself "you paid $600 for a pedal??" it would be kinda rude not to mention ruining someone's good time to tell them this. Keep negative stuff to yourself it's NOT your moment it'd theirs.

I'm happy that you're happy.

The end.

Excellent outlook, positive or nothing at all.
That’s how I try to carry myself..

Just to be clear.
I love that LP. It sounds huge and plays amazing. I don’t regret a single penny spent on it.
The question is, are products overpriced for what they are?
And I’m talking about gear in general. Not just guitars.
I’m talking cables, pedals, straps, picks, strings, etc…
It depends. I have some Divine Noise cables that were custom made with Neutrik jack and silent plugs. I've had them for like ,14 years. I have never had an issue with them. They were like $100 bucks a piece when I got them.

I've had several $20 dollar cables from GC that have failed.

I also have some less expensive curly cords that are made by Ernie Ball that were on sale, 2 for 50 bucks, and I've been using the same one for a few years, with no problems. Low noise too.

I feel like none of these were over priced. You actually get what you pay for.

Maybe the best 100 investment yet but will cost me 1,000's. Got reinvigorated on guitar again & decided to keep recording gear in the LR and bring the amp head in for each use & run cable to bandroom to cabs mic'd. Finally can run wide open for recording.

So, JCM 800, Mesa Triple Rec & Mesa 50 Caliber + where ya at !!
