I wonder what he would have accomplish if he didn’t have that disease.Jason Becker at only 17
YEAH, I've posted a few clips of and about Jason BeckerI wonder what he would have accomplish if he didn’t have that disease.
NICE DAMN GODIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
^^^^^I'm a blues-based pentatonic player. I doubt I've ever played anything really fast, but I definitely admire the skill.
I couldnt resist lmao
By the way, this thing has heavy strings with high action on top of a bit of tendonitis in the left arm but why not give it a shot?
He might be a right miserable prick 99% of the time, but Gene Simmons nailed it for me. He once said along the lines " Its great if you can play a million notes per minute, but what good is it if it has no punch? To me it just sounds like an angry bumble bee *buzzzz* Id much rather hear an A Chord that just cracks your ribs".^^^^^
This.
Speed cannot be stereotyped. It is silly to say speed is not musical. There are many different types of music associated with speed.
Blues
Rock
Spanish / Flamenco
Classical
Country
I can tell use, I use the little speed I have, and if I had more, I would make good use of it!! In my opinion any disavowal of the ability to play fast is a rationalization
Yep. Speed in itself is not music, just as playing slow is not automatically music. You gotta do something with it. See the BB King quote that has been in my signature line for years. He might be a right miserable prick 99% of the time, but Gene Simmons nailed it for me. Sometimes subtlety can be much greater and powerful. I enjoy and appreciate speed and precision, but I also want to hear something with substance too.
Live I sometimes just flail away on whatever cause it's fun. Not telling a story but not a recording either so as long as I get off the crowd usually does too.Yep. Precisely. The key is to do what YOU want to do! That's the only person you have to impress: yourselfLive I sometimes just flail away on whatever cause it's fun. Not telling a story but not a recording either so as long as I get off the crowd usually does too.
But just having a wank on it is just having a wank.

I said from day one that if someone enjoys something I do? Bless you a million times over! But you can equally despise anything I do and my feelings will be exactly the same as above. I don't play for anyone but me. I'm not out there suckling on adulation or admiration. Im not here to impress anyone and I don't ball up in the fetal position with delicate feelings if you have something possibly negative to say.
I know my place in this world and it ain't being a guitarist, that's just something I do as a therapeutic effect really. I know that I'm not even close to great, but I also know I'm not the worst either. That's honestly irrelevant since it is again, just a hobby and escape from reality.
But there is the essence of Rock N Roll: defiance. And im chocked full of that lol
I could always record something specifically for it but again, not really sure why I would. I do what I do.So getting back on topic, who are the front runners of this speed exhibition?
It is the theme of the thread. No one is obligated to participate, but I am excited to see those who do. Anyway, you already posted some impressive stuff.I could always record something specifically for it but again, not really sure why I would. I do what I do.
I like your style: both musically and ideally here with this statement!I could always record something specifically for it but again, not really sure why I would. I do what I do.
Certainly not me. Maybe the 2008 model of me, but not in my current state. So getting back on topic, who are the front runners of this speed exhibition?
My 2010 was the fastest I ever could have been, but I don’t mess with trying to be fast anymore, because I just can’t make it sound , good or like anything someone would want to listen to a second timeCertainly not me. Maybe the 2008 model of me, but not in my current state.
