I'd have to give Eric Clapton and Elmore James an honorary mention, though. As Frank Zappa said, Elmore only had one riff, but when he played it, he meant it. The others are based more on volume of awesome riffs and how much I enjoy playing their work.

Elmore James was ripping through Dust My Broom in '51, Clapton was in motion with the Yardbirds by '63, Hendrix wasn't really anyone until '66.

We don't know when Keef was born or started playing, legend has it that he was already sitting there strumming, waiting for the rest of the Stones when the Romans showed up... :coffee2:
