Who has a 2023 standard les paul?

Drool worthy LP's

Some remind me of Robert's Holy Grail Numero Uno Gold Top. Some of ones my friend in FLA plays. and then another is like 67 plexi's

OH BTW F the suck azzz Customs/Anti Rosewood BS laws as mentioned around 4:35

@gball, I sure wish I could be with you, 67 or Robert, Jethro etc to be my 2nd player so I could hear HOW MY LP's sound like these guys do.

why do I have to be thousands of miles away? Oh Wait, @smitty_p hasn;t tried my LP yet. There's a thought.

I didn't watch this whole clip yet, so I am going to venture a guess which one he picks.

IT is the one in Tim's hands at 15:15+

The Supreme's were thicker and had a carved maple back also.
I have a 2007 Supreme. The sound and craftsmanship are excellent. Has 490R and 498T pups.

Robert/ Inspector #20 and gball have both purchased recent LP's. Maybe not 2023, but 2021-2022's I believe, and both of these guys are very happy with the instruments they got.
Mine is a July 2021 build, Les Paul 50's Standard Gold Top, purchased brand new in November 2021 for $2,998.56 out-the-door.

@Don O - has played this one.

Since purchase, i have done no modifications except Dunlop Straplocks using the "correctly sized" screws by MojoAxe.

As far as adjustments are concerned, i set the pickup pole pieces to my preferred stagger and made a slight intonation adjustment, both to my tastes, but the guitar was simply perfect in every way the day i took it out of the case.

This type thing I think was borne out in the video I posted where Tim and Rhett were at Norms.

Several "pretty" LP's going head to head.
ONE supposedly stood out to the both of them. However, the others were no slouches. I kept thinking of Robert and his Gold Top. Imagine if he added it to their mix. Then add Robert's ears and hands into the playing of the different LP's. Which might they have picked then?

In my case, I think that every single one of those LP's sound better than I can make them sound. The choices for me would come down to quality of build, feel, appearance and then which one my ears liked best.

Another reaction I had to the demo of Tim and Rhett was, suppose each of the tested LP's were set up exactly the same in every way. Then how would they sound? I am quite sure that string heights, pickup heights, etc were not all the same. My thought is, that only when these are all zero'd out, we can boil it down to materials used and then see what they sound like.

Correct. For recent builds I have a 2019 Special, 2020 Standard '50s, 2022 Classic and a 2023 Studio.
They are all exceptional in fit/finish and most importantly playability. They all have exactly the tone each of them should IMO, which is of course different guitar to guitar.

I have made small mods to each (for example, I am in the haters club when it comes to the fake ABR bridges that Gibson is using so I replace those with Nashvilles, put on proper modern tuners in place of the Deluxe ones, etc.)

Perhaps the OPs question should more accurately be "what's right about them?" instead of "what's wrong?" because there are very few negatives.

@gball, fill us in on the pups each of your LP's came with.

If others don't know it, I remember you saying how 490's are good pups that get a bad rep. People dismiss them before giving them the full test and time to adjust properly.

As for my LP's. EPI has 1979 T Tops uncovered Black Bobbins, '79 Km has Double Cream neck T Top and Dimarzio Dimeola Bridge Pup.

SG's P90 in the Classic, 490's in the Walnut Faded, Tarbacks in the Cream '76, and Bill Lawrences in the 3 Knob '89 Special. ES 135 I have 57's
