Who’s your ShorDurPerSav?

The Church of the Subgenius is a joke religion created to sell books, but it has some actual wisdom among the crazy. One concept from The Church I really like is the idea of the ShorDurPerSav: the Short Duration Personal Savior. It’s anyone or anything that lights you up, motivates you to live and seek out your peak moments. For a while now, mine has been Robben Ford. But through Robben’s teaching, I’ve come to think of BB King as a possible ShorDurPerSav. I’m getting into how much music he makes with a very limited vocabulary, how much soul he communicates.

Anyway, who’s your current ShorDurPerSav? Who makes you want to play these days?

Doesn’t have to be a guitar player. For a long while, my ShorDurPerSav was Miles Davis. Could be a relative, like my Uncle Bob, who grudgingly accepted the mantle for years when I was a teen.
