Which instrument(s) should I sell

Which of my instruments should I sell? (which means which one(s) do you want?)

So I'm getting ready to sell my house and move to Tucson with my lady
for whom I'm care giver. And I have too many guitars to haul over the great divide.

I've been selling everything. I'm down to 7 guitars, two djembes, an autoharp and an old
Silvertone banjo. If I can find someone to come and get it, I'm donating the Grinnell
piano to a school or church.

I've sold all my "vintage" instruments, antique fishing lures, most of my firearms, tools, furniture,
I've donated big bags of clothes I'm not wearing any more, I gave my photo business to my step
daughter, I'm not traveling with Mustards Retreat any more... this stuff changes a person's life.

No crybaby stuff... If I can turn a lot of these things into money, we'll have the ability to make choices
from a better position. We have a lot of support. I had a big yard sale a few weeks ago where friends
and fans and relatives came and got stuff, and gave us too much money. *grins

We'll certainly need it later. Anyway, I'm not hauling all these instruments, and so I'll have to give
some of them up. Those of you who have read my boastful posts will know that I'm attached to
all of these. Some of them are coming with me. I'd love to sell these things to people who want them
because they were mine... AND I've been able to do that with a lot.

Which ones should I sell... who will make me a bid on one or more of these?
I will likely keep five instruments... cain't bear to live without...but which?
 
I thought I'd offer these here first.
I could also use a local marketplace web site, but didn't want weird people coming to the house
with low-ball bids...

If I had any patience for low ball bids, I could make a similar post over on ETSG...
but I hesitate to do that. I have more friends here maybe.

I can also sell guitars at Elderly Instruments, but they take a big bite.
My local music go round has bought a bunch of my pedals and drums and other cool things,
but they have to make a profit too.

I could offer them to fans and friends on twit face, but might still get weird people coming to the
house with low ball bids.

Now that I'm almost ready to put the house on the market, I don't care as much about all the weirdos
out there. But I have Cindy to think about.

hmmm.... My ideal situation would be parking a couple of instruments with other performers who would
at least play them once in a while, or hang them up... And then come back for them if I could. But I haven't
found the perfect foster home yet.

Step right up... the large print giveth and the small print taketh away...
 
man..,i feel ya....being a caretaker..you are to be commended !! I am moving & 2 months ago... looked at the stuff & was honest..what don't i touch & what genre am i headed..so the gear went accordingly..at first it hurt...then..they are gone..i healed....we just assessed our move yesterday..there is more gear than house stuff...to take....
My friends did get some of my gear & i gave some away....the buyers...i wouldn't sell to one guy..was a total jerk in the meet, then. tried to badger the guitar....i just grabbed it back & left..they are ya friends & deserve a chance to make music & joy on others..do not part with any that are the staple of your main tone..they cant be replaced..not necessarily the most expensive but the ones you rely on to make music..i feel your pain..hard task at hand !!

Once you get to Tucson and the dust clears, let me know. I am right up the road abt 1.5 hrs. I am in Gilbert which is SE of phoenix.
 
Is the Triple T truck stop still alive an well ?
I have not been in there in a very long time, best fried chicken dinner I ever had, and the biscuits and gravy are top notch as well !

That’s a tough thing to do , especially if you are going to continue to play! I sold all of my gear 2 times, saying to myself that I was not going to play any more, it was still hard but I bid farewell to my favorite belongings twice!
Not anymore, I only sell the things to make room for the new gear!

The Martin XC1T has a OOO size body, and the depth of it is less than a dreadnought...
It's about 4" or 100mm. It's got a Fishman Elipse Blend pickup system, combining a microphone
in the sound hole and a piezo under the bridge.

The tone is a fine even sound. Not too bassy, like some Martins. I attached an mp3
where I played the Martin for the rhythm part, and my friend Rod Caps played the Silverburst
SG for the solos and fills. The Martin sounds great through a P.A. as well.
Lots of presence and sustain.

The Martin has a striped ebony fretboard and bridge, and the neck is made of "Stratabond" which
is a lot of laminations. I had no idea when I bought this guitar how stable that laminated neck
would turn out to be. It's an excellent neck, more practical than the mahogany on my old Mossman Dred.

Unfortunately for me, it has a well repaired break in the HPL (high pressure laminate) of the back,
where it fell on concrete. I described this in my PM response. So I can't ask more than $400 for
it, even though it sounds like a guitar that's worth a lot more.

Dayum Col, I hate to see you in this position! It was your 339 that gave me the gas to buy my own 339. I too recently went through some life changing events and had to clear out some gear. Fortunately for me, Sp8ctre was able to store some of my gear for me and I hope to be gathering some of it back soon. I wish you the best of luck in life and your attempt to clear some gear. I've always loved your faded SG, that was the inspiration for me to do all the woodwork on Burla, but I would not insult you with any lo-ball offer that I could afford and I just don't have room for any more guitars at this time.
 
thanks everyone for all this supportive commentary...
I've found a friend to "foster" two of my instruments for me, which means he
gets to play them and fondle them but doesn't have to buy them, and I don't
have to haul them over Loveland Pass at 11,000 feet (3353 Meters)...

Also, I know where they are and they are still mine. ALL MINE!
I gave him my Tele Deluxe and my Epiphone ES 339. I was gonna give him
my Martin XC1T, but he really began bonding with the Epiphone. So he gets
to play it and all, and I don't have to worry that some gorilla has his hairy paws
on my lovely Caledonia. I'm gonna miss them both fer shure...

So now I'm down to five... my two SGs, my two acoustics, and my Warmoth bass.
That's a good arsenal to face the future with. I gave Rod my Black Heart Little Giant
5W combo amp, and he started bonding with that too, liking the tone.
I'm keeping my Orange Micro Terror and my Vox Vt-30, as well as my trusty
Roland CB-60XT bass amp.
