Where the FVK is Middle C on the Guitar???

Thanks for all th in depth explanations! I think I have a handle on it for my purposes.

I am trying very hard to develop my ear, but it's easier said than done...I may be tone deaf!

My big problem for this current class is my teacher is a Saxaphone player. He will play a solo
post it on line and then I have to transpose it to the guitar! Not easy at all when you can't
identify the notes just by listening.

So this and the fact that all the sheet music given is for piano has caused me to go on my
little journey.

I will say that of all the classes I've taken I think this one is going to help me become a better
player more than any others thus far...

The journey is long and hard, but very rewarding and satisfying in the end!!!

It sounds like a very worth while journey that has kept you thinking about music, searching for answers, trying new things and... practicing!

Can't go wrong Bruddah.

Just remember to enjoy yourself & keep your love & enthusiasm for music alive. Music really is one of lifes special gifts isn't it?

Ahh, gotcha.

Are they fast pieces or more moderately paced?
The instructor is doing a lot of 1/8th note Bebop articulations and hes is using something he calls "Tension and Release".
It's all above my level, but it's challenging me and that's what I need to grow. I'm spending hours at the computer
with my guitar in hand looping his phrases and trying to match it...

Just to help maybe clear things up the class is Basic Improvisation...

Thanks Relic, It is worthwhile to me and I am enjoying it even though it is sometimes frustrating...

I've always been a HUGE music fan and have listened to Rock and Pop since I was seven...now I'm 57 and
I want to learn to play it...never too late right???

I've always looked older. When I was 15 I could buy beer without getting carded. I thought it was great then. By the time I was 35 people thought I was 50. My wife is 3 months younger than me and people think I'm her father.

I guess I'm the opposite...I was sometimes carded at 35 and it annoyed me. As soon as they stopped asking I started feeling bad and wished they would...

I’ve had people think I’m my daughter’s older brother.

That's funny...Eight years ago I was out with my oldest daughter and her newborn and people thought I was her
husband...one of thos older guy with a young girl things...it really creeped her out!

I had the same impression! Too funny. Spec is just young at heart & young of mind!

I've really never made it past 15 or 16 mentally. Sometimes I feel like I've been pulling a fast one on the world.
