You need to find the right size then! If you get a good fit, they stay put and let your feet rest and breathe. Of course, wearing flops in Northern Europe might be a bit pointless, as the weather is too cold and most of the time there's snow.

On the other hand, I never understood what makes people wear Birkenstocks. They kill your feet for months before breaking in, and even afterwards they're too edgy and odd. And very painful if you wake up sleepy and step onto one in the wrong position. Ouch.

Actually, I have REALLY tried to find flip-flops that fit me, I guess it's just that my feet are not made for them... Too much space between my big toe and "index" toe (what the heck do you call the three toes between the big and little ones???), I don't know. It is pretty annoying, really! Without anything behind my heel, any shoe I put on will fall off. You're right about the weather here, by the way.

Here in the tropics they’re a staple, as it gets real hot all along spring and summer, and even the winter is mild enough to allow shorts and flops.

Nearly all Brazilians wear them. I have Havaianas, which are the best seller here, but I prefer the Californian ones. Rainbows are my favorite seaside shoes...
 
So, I was browsing some pics in my old computer, and found this selfie I took when I was trying on one of my old man's felt hats and a bandana as part of the stage costume for a Hendrix/SRV cover gig we were planning, a year or so ago...

YAY, you made it Sergio. Glad I was able to pass on that we all have been missing you. I am incredibly overjoyed at your news with Patricia but glad you showed up today as I held off on telling anyone. I think I can speak for all of us, that we truly enjoy your presence here and of course wish you much happiness even before the wedding news.

Congrats -- yes I saw the anouncment and clicked like think I said congrats--- dunno life comes at ya fast these days--
