Where is Marty's guitar?

Should be a interesting story.
Yes indeed! Someone, somewhere, may or may not know that that guitar could be worth at least $2K now. And yes, Shirley, I do jest.
I'm surprised that nobody seems to know where it disappeared to.
Once found.....the bidding war will ensue.

Ah, yes...the guitar that appeared in a movie ahead of it's time.

Back To The Future was set in 1955, but the ES-345 was not released until 1959. It would have been more historically accurate for Marty McFly to have played a Les Paul. While not a big deal, in close up images you can see that the Bigsby is also a mod to the guitar. The stock tailpiece bushings are visible.

By the way, the article makes a mistake; though, an understandable one. The comment is made that that guitar ("these guitars") did not come out until 1958. That is true of the ES-335, but the ES-345, though developed in 1958, wasn't actually released for sale until '59.

To this day, I still get a little annoyed at that scene. I know...I know...it's only a movie, I get it; it's artistic license. It still tweaks me a little.

Isn't Norm's the rightful owner? It was rented and not returned and guessing they entered a claim. Or would it automatically be the property of the insurance company if a claim was paid on it?

This story made local Chicago news yesterday. Didn’t get to watch it since I was outside grilling pork chops. Might have been interesting if what they had to say was different than the OP.
