My uncle, a Morman genealogist, traced our lineage back to the Normandy region of France where it is said we came as part of the Norman Conquest. Much of our family settled in Bedfordshire, England. A part of the family went to Scotland in the 1400's, affiliating with Clans Moffett and Agnew. Another faction of the family settled in Prussia, which is said to be where the "Von Herndon" version of the name came from. A group of our ancestor's emigrated to America around 1643, settling in Virginia briefly, before moving into Western Kentucky, in and around Herndon, Kentucky, where they have lived ever since...

When my son Marc was born 20 years ago, I gave him the "Von" middle name, so his driver's license and signature resembles the olde family name.

These days, we live quietly in seclusion, in the mountains near Lake Arrowhead...

I heard my grandma and her sisters speak of was how one of their grandad's came over from Alsace Lorraine and met a girl on the way over. Having thought she was married due to her having 2 kids with her when they met, led him to a misunderstanding that apparently was cleared up a few years later when he encountered her over here in the US again. When she said they were her sister's kids, he took the leap and expressed his fond memory of their first meeting and it went from there. Along the way, my grandma's ancesters came from Sauvain's, and Cooke's and eventually she'd marry my grandad a Miller.

I believe one side of our tree had the names Gustave and Lena Sauvain(e) who wound up in Ohio. If the info I found from census is accurate, he may have come from Switz. While other accounts have some part of the family coming from Alsace Lorraine. ( unsure of exactness and which side of the tree) Also unsure where the Cooke side of the tree began.

Gustave Sauvain was born on month day 1840, at birth place, to Emanuel Sauvain and Sophia Sauvain.
Emanuel was born on March 21 1801, in Eschert, Bern, Switzerland.
Sophia was born on January 1 1800, in Corcelles, Bern, Switzerland.
Gustave had 9 siblings: Esther Eggenberger (born Sauvain), Julie Rozine Bandeleis (born Sauvain) and 7 other siblings.
Gustave passed away on month day 1909, at age 69 at death place, Ohio.

U mean to tell me there are only 2.6 million people in a place as big as Texas and Alaska put together which are approximately 940,000 square miles?
Yes, that is what I'm saying.
The population in the area of Perth city and its surrounds is 2.04 million. The remaining population of Western Australia are spread out over the rest of the land area and most of them around the coast line. Once you go inland it can get pretty lonely.

Try Palm Springs, California....look closely at the bottom dials - 122°F and 68% humidity....I lived there for 3 years...it was hot, but it wasn't too bad. I grew up in a really hot climate, so it doesn't bug me too bad...although I prefer the snow... :-)
