What's Your Prettiest Guitar

New addition to the fam has taken over as my 'prettiest'.

I'd have to say it's the first DT McNaught I bought, an '04 Vintage Double Cut that I named Firehawk.
I have an '07 Vintage Single Cut now that's lovely too, but Firehawk is just gorgeous.
All black korina neck & body, under a quilt maple cap. Plays and sounds amazing.

Coupla runners-up:

And one that I don't own, but it really wowed me:

How can I pick... mine are all pretty
each in their own way.

The first choice is prolly my 2018 Gibson J-45 AG... (second from the right side above)
Her front side looks slightly ordinary, but she's got a walnut fretboard, walnut bridge
and walnut back & sides. Maple neck. Her sound is totally unique, sweet and clear.

I named her Zelda. A real Gibson guitar made of all North American hardwoods...
She's got excellent tone amplified as well, and plays well with pedals.

Well and so... The Queen of my music room is still my '07 Gibson SG faded special.
She's also unique in her own way, because I've been like a doting sugar daddy
buying nice clothes for his lovely mistress. She's beautiful in them or out of them.

I named this SG Luna, and I've modded her with the best of everything I could buy or make.
Not because she really needed these things, but because I was so enthralled with her
sound and feel that I had to keep "improving" it. ...strange... I know.
But I got her just the way I wanted her and then stopped messing about. I just play music
on her now. But every time I do, and set her down finally, it's with the spoken or unspoken
comment: "What a great guitar."

I carved the p/g out of walnut, and the switch washer out of ebony. Ain't she pretty?
I bought her volume knobs that go to 11. *grins
That's a Tone Pros bridge and tail, and she sports Gibson '57 Classic and Classic + p'ups
So her sound is pretty too. I bought her an ebony TRC with inlay of abalone and MOP.
So none of this is really noticiible until you come close, and then she's like... wow...k
The TRC looks excellent on a plain headstock like this one. I don't care for the Gibson
inlays anyway.

I'll make another post with a few more. You see why I can't really choose just one.

Here's my '09 Warmoth J-Bass... Swamp ash body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, all black hardware
with black Schaller tuners, a Gotoh black "high mass" bridge (sounds witchy and cool) and a hand carved (by me)
walnut pickguard and control cavity cover. I bought Fender "vintage" J-bass pickups. Mighty purdy too...
Luretta at Harrisville@133.jpeg
I named her Luretta, after a song by Townes Van Zandt.
That's her in my avatar, we were playing a workshop stage at Bliss Fest in Northern Michigan
in 2023. Those are not frets, they are maple inlays. Aint she pretty too...
Before I retired, women would sometime come up after a show and tell me
she looks yummy, like a caramel sundae... yeah... you know.

And then there's these two:
SnowWhite Caledonia@100.jpg
Snow White, and Caledonia... my MIM Fender Telecaster Deluxe replica
and my Epiphone ES-339 P-90 pro. They look great together, because they've
got this Black/Blonde thing going. They don't have massive wood grain like
some guitars to, but Snow White's Fender blonde maple neck has a lovely and very subtle
grain to it. It's one piece of wood. She's a very striking looking guitar in an
understated way.
And so's Caledonia... just blonde and black, black and blonde. But fiip her over
and she's got this lovely mahogany neck! This was before I bought her the black
Gotoh locking tuners...

once again, this doesn't reach out and tweak you by the nose, but it's there for me to enjoy and now
to boast about.

But hey, let's not forget Catalina, my 2012 silverburst SG special '70s tribute...

I cain't tell you which is the prettiest of all these beauties. How many Silverburst guitars do you see anyway?
And Catalina is the best looking of any of them IMHO. Of course I think so.
I am blessed, I believe so.
