Being my stature, i have never seen my thumb able to wrap around the neck to fret the Low E. Well , just maybe it is a blessing in the long run to have to learn dif technique when you can't cover a span in octaves in position.

Oddly. In spite of small hands and short fingers, I have been able to get my thumb to fret the low E. Probably mostly to mute it…. But sometimes to play a note. Think playing Em chord in Drop D.
