What would be your choice for a beginner Electric guitar

Agreed on LTDs. As I said earlier, I got my son an LTD bass, and it's a really nice bass. Personally, I'd like one of the ESP/LTD Les Paul-type guitars with a Floyd.

I have been eyeing a couple of the $400 ish Craigslist EC-1000's for a minute! The Viper doesn't come around often though & they usually come with EMG's. I am looking for the Duncan loaded models.

You may want to consider Epiphone brands or Yamaha. One thing I can only say do some research on your own and if possible you are going to buy it with a physical store near your area better ask someone who knows guitars with you, so you have someone who can really try it out

One thing to bear in mind. If the newbie is interested in electric guitar music, don't make the mistake of starting them on an acoustic. Nothing will be a quicker turnoff.

Now you tell me! My son wanted a guitar for Christmas 20 years ago, so I bought him an acoustic. He gave it away to one of his friends and bought an electric guitar.
