In a different thread I let y’all know I pulled the plug a week ago. Have not done a bloody thing. Just enjoying being a slug for a week or so. Then I have a few projects I’d like to both start and finish. Still getting up every morning at 5-5:30. Me and the pooch walk the neighborhood. Pretty quiet at those times. No cars.

Apologies if this is in the wrong section. I'm assuming that there are some retired folks here. I'm retiring in 8 days (I'm not counting) after 44 years with the same company. I would like to know what it felt like on your first day and/or week not punching the clock. Was it joyful relief? Was it depressing? Was it a huge culture shock? I really would like to know what's coming.

I'm a little late to this thread. I retired 6 years ago, I have never looked back, my last job I worked at for 38 years decided it was time to go at age 60, for me was a good age to go. I have good health and wanted to enjoy life before the years pack on. I enjoyed my job, enjoyed working over the years, but like Don O says everyday is Saturday!! I keep busy in my retirement practice 2 hrs each day, do some gigs through the winter months, of course that has changed this winter due to covid. I build and fly R/C planes which is my number 1 passion. And I spend the summer months at the campground. Retirement is FANTASTIC, best job I ever had.

A big congrats on your retirement!!!!! I wish you all the best, just keep busy and you will be fine. Now you can do the things in life you want to do. :)
