Pick ups? I like it the way it should be. The correct Telecaster set up, the little silver one at the neck and a bigger one near the bridge. My first Tele said Telecaster Custom on it but it was just a nasty looking Les Paul with two humbuckers and four knobs. No twang, no snap back and no Telecaster.
That was in 1973 and it took me forever to figure out what to do with it. Same thing to have a real Strat, three single coil pick ups. Mine has a humbucker in the bridge and I knew that was wrong. I did a coil split and now it sounds like Clapton's. He had the Lace pick ups for a long time. The way that they started and made them the hot numbers they are now all these years later and worth talking about. Keep that basic formula and you will have a hot little number in your case.
