What is your go-to guitar

Speaking of to go guitars... It's 10 o'clock down here.

Woke up a couple of hours earlier, put myself some (a lot, as a matter of fact) coffee, lit a cig (it's my last pack of American Camels, I gotta use them wisely) and checked my email on the tablet. Got some pics of gigs I still hadn't seen, different angles, and in most of them I'm playing my black Stratocaster, like in this one:

Well, shot some porn with my SG afterwards...

I'm kinda excited. My drummer is putting together a brand new project with new people, a GnR cover band. The idea is to schedule a gig in which we'll play the entire Appetite for destruction. He invited me to do the rythm parts and I said "I'm your Izzy, man!"

I guess for that job the uneducated mutt lady above is the most appropriate tool.

GnR - Very cool!

As for the Camels, and I know this is a overstepping - any chance I can convince you to make that your last pack? More guitar money, better stamina (for whatever you wish to use it on) and it is possible that you will have more years to play guitar.

oh ya, and if I'm just reaching for a guitar in my own sweet time, to try an old song I forgot,
or to work out something new on my own, I usually have my lovely blonde Epiphone ES-339 out on a stand
in my music room. I named her Caledonia, and she's my newest serving girl. *grins

I'm still working with her, and learning all her little ways... because I haven't had a P-90 guitar
since the mid seventies. Back then I didn't value the P-90s, but thought they were obsolete and
would only play my parents' music. *laughs

I know better now.

Notes, it is a Winchester Model 70 Classic Stainless with a BOSS in 30 06
My next favorite is my 1950's Model 70 wood stock, blued barrel .270. My gunsmith offered me $400 more than I paid for it without a scope when I went to him to order a scope.

My Buddy has a nice Savage 110 I think, his is 300 Win Mag

Nope 69,,,,,,,,,,,, I am not wealthy enough to go to Elk country. Just simple White Tail hunting here in Maryland.
The best I have seen are a few bucks on my game cam and in rifle distance in Bow Hunting season of course.

If I'm just going to sit down in my own private time and play around with something, I usually choose this:

If I'm preparing to play an event, I usually pick the guitar I want to use for a particular song and use only that guitar when I practice the song.

If a song is of a general humbucker-ish nature and I can't make up my mind, I'll usually default to this for the upper fret access and pleasing Maestro action. Plus, the sound from the '57 Classics covers a lot of territory.

But, I may use one of my others, depending on my mood.

If upper fret access is less of a concern, and I want a bit more growl (due to it's different pickups), I am increasingly likely to choose this, now that it's vibrato-fied.

However, lately, the HB-30 has been getting more attention. It hangs very comfortably on me and all the controls are positioned in a very instinctive location for me. The Seymour Duncan '59s are also very versatile.

Honestly, it's very possible that once I Bigsby-fy this one that it could end up being the go-to guitar.

If a song suggests single-coils, then, obviously, I use this:

That's way too many "Go To" guitars...they are lovely beasts though...so thanks for showing them!

My current go to, can't put it down guitar is my 2002 Custom Shop non-reverse Firebird. The neck is perfect (smaller custom shop 50's rounded, like .88-.96 or so). It plays and feels like sex on wheels. :X3:

Up until last May, I was over the moon with my 2014 ES 335. I am still am, really. It is close to perfect and I love it and can't put it down for a week at a time anytime I am able to set the 'Bird aside for a moment.

That said, the last time I was thrown in the deep end for a jam with several other musicians I had not jammed with before, I took old faithful. It was like having a security blanket for me. At the time, I was playing my SG Classic and my Sheraton more, but when it's time to put up or shut up...

My "Go To Guitar" is whatever is sitting in the stand and already plugged into the amp when I get the "urge " to play a bit. I don't compliment stuff with saying this is my favorite for this and that's for other stuff. Like Zappa said so well "Shut up and play your guitar."
