What Happened to Gibson Guitars?

I have a set -- they have worked flawlessly for about 2 years---but I dont play pro -- I dont abuse my gear-- and well there ya have it
 
THey used to sell for 100.00 or so when guys would remove and sell on reverb etc.

Saw a set on CL for 30.00 recently--

as stated mine work fine and I have checked the tuning----- with a Snark to compare -- it is "on" ------string changes .........ugh
 
Gibson guitars are the least of my troubles. It's out of our hands what they do with their current line-up and all. These days there are a ton of other guitar manufacturers that produce exceptional guitars at a lesser price than Gibson does. I'd wish they would lower their prices somewhat.

Well, Bea over here in the good old US of A, Obama and other politicians forced employers big a small to provide ever increasing minimum wage plus health insurance and all manner of overhead for each employee. Where once there might be 5-15 or more people to take your food order or ring up your merchandise, now they put 1 or 2 people in charge of automated self checkout stations where the customer must ring up and bag up their own items. In the long run they can eliminate the extra costs associated with the insurance etc of human workers by using a computer, credit card reader, and the customer as labor.

Essentially now to go to a fast food restaurant costs more than it used to cost for a sit down chef cooked meal due to all the escalating costs of labor.
So many things like this eat at my patience. People have to make over $100,000 just to pay for all the crap the government forces us to pay for. Most of it to me is waste and graft and to pay for crap that is like throwing money down the drain.

Good thing you don’t live in CA, we tax cow farts out here.

I think this speaks to the -- 6 year olds working for a bowl of rice a day -- and NO flogging if they do a good job

One of my jobs (real ones not dicking about with gear) is in DIRECT competition with China-- I lost a job last week -- because the 8.00 box WE sold the customer (made right here in FLo-RI-dUH-- )couldnt match the 1.00 each price from CHINA--- for what APPEARS TO THE CONSUMER as the same box -- never mind the ARSEHOLE client is putting .05 cents worth of sex lube (calls it some special REJUVENATION CREAM to make saggy old women look young--) in a jar -- in a box (total invested maybe 3.00 ) and sells it for 125.00 a jar (yep -- I could give you the website but that might be illegal -- immoral or Wrong in some way -- PM me if you want some over priced LUBE in a jar) so despite the new tariffs -- I am still losing $$$$$ in my income -- to CHINA
I was laid off from one company back in August -- because -- they couldnt COMPETE WITH CHINA--- and had to cut costs---

So-- yep -- I "get it"

and yep -- I still bought a slave labor CHIBSON because I wanted to know WHAT it was all about--- and my CHIBSON has Epiphone pickups-- epiphone wiring epiphone spec body and bits-- and is (except for headstock shape and name) by all accounts an EPIPHONE-- a company BUILT -- funded-- trained-- and put in motion ----- by ------
GIBSON------ to save money cut cost and make a cheaper yet functional instrument-------

(to clarify -- I have no PROOF-- but I am CONGVINCED many Chibsons and CHIBSON makers in CHina are either moving stuff OUT THE BACK door of the Epiphone plant -- or were trained and taught there-- I have other EPi lesters and have owned many and this thing-- is an EPIPHONE by all counts but the name)

Once I was up in near the Manor Tavern up off Old York Rd at a lady's farm. She had about 5 or 6 horses. I said it sure must be nice to be away from all the crowds and folks that bother ya and get in your business etc. She replies, Heck the govt comes out one day and is poking around her farm and asks, "How many piles do your horses produce in a day? " " She says HOW am I supposed to know? If you want to find out, follow em around and count for yourselves,"
