What Ever Happened To This Genius Instrument?

Im gonna have to agree with Don.Im sure it plays and sounds fine but its not one of Gibsons better designs.

A remnant of Hank J's obsession with advancing the "technology" of the electric guitar and attempting to dictate to guitarists what they wanted instead of asking them what they wanted.
Thankfully, he seems to have mostly learned the lesson that this experiment provided him and he is mostly giving us the products we are asking for now.

Sorry Tony, but I disagree with you on this. FWIW, if Gibson would have brought the bong, the design would have been more appealing and flowing. I believe LSD was involved on this one... :alien:

Nope.
Looks like a meth cut with strychnine design to me.

Nah, looks like a half baked firebird, don't care for it.
They should be able to come up with a better design
& if that don't work, just borrow from prs

Not great access to the upper frets, but they're trying lol

At least I'm way more interested in the above Gibson's than the pic of the Firebird X. Anybody got any info on the mysterious 24-fret Gibby's. I bet they're chambered or semi-hollowed...

If they were gonna put 24 frets on the damn thing they
should have put in 1 more inlay. The upper neck looks
like the 2 extra frets were an afterthought.

...and someone drops a blob of raspberry preserves on the table.
Everyone looks at it and says, "Nice shape for our new Firebird X!".

A closed mind is nothing to be proud of...

To me, this is an interesting design, and the only thing I don't like about it is the price.
If they offered this for $1100, (and I don't understand why they couldn't) this thing would
have much more appeal to me. If I saw a used one for $750 I'd be intrigued, and would
want to try it out.

Maybe I get tired of seeing all the same designs over and over. The firebird tone is a classic in its
own way, but I've never cared for that body shape. So to my mind, this design is a lot more accessible
way to get the Firebird tone. I don't think body shape has any effect on tone. *grins

When I see those three mini hums, I think of the music of Johnny Winter. I like the maple neck.

I don't have an issue with the body shape, or the hardware. My problem is with the finish.
I'm used to seeing fantastic finish jobs on Gibsons, but as per my post above, this looks like it was painted by a toddler with finger paints.
If I were to buy this guitar, it would have to be a lot less expensive, and the first thing i would do is strip it and repaint it.
