Retired. Sitting around scratching my butt.
Worked 25 years in photographic equipment retail, in management too. That was plenty.

I understand for sure. Graduated HS and pretty much went to work full time in the fall. (After I turned 18) And with only a few breaks from being laid off for various reason… like. Business closing the doors. Economy in 2009. That was my next 48 years. Did not do college out of HS. Instead did it part time later after getting married and having kids. Finally got my AA degree in 1996. Was determined to accomplish that before my eldest graduated HS in 1997.
Started at the local farm service. Built grain bins and steel building. Worked in the service department on trucks. Repaired truck and tractor tires. In 74 went to work for a Farm Tractor Sales, Service and Parts place. Worked at a construction equipment dealership…. Same manufacturer as the tractor outlet. Finished up at a marina on Lake Michigan. 74-80 worked service department and drove the big truck. 80-retire, been behind a parts counter.
Like you. That was long enough. Mentally and emotionally I was done.

I should add - I did 2 years college in Audio Visual a few years outta high school. Then worked the photo retail. Quit in 2011 at age 49 because I just couldn't take it anymore. Planned to go back but the Mrs sold off some farmland and then had her massive brain surgery in 2016. Couldn't work after that. So she sold the rest of the land and here we are today.
She's doing very well.

Spent the entirety of my career designing machines for use in Papermills, Converting equipment (Sheeters, Winders, Coating machines, Calendering machinery, Laminators, Embossers etc etc). In addition to that....add printing press equipment to the list.
@JohnnyGoo It wouldn't surprise me at all to learn that the mill you worked at employed equipment that was designed and manufactured by a company I had worked at.
It's a small world, after all.

Sargeant Preston,do you reconize any of these companies ?? PCMC, BRETTING MFG . Our Napkin machines used Embossing rolls to. Worked on alot of the.ALL up from around green bay wisconsin.I worked in Converting dept,my job was Napkin Machines. Started out running the them the up to crew boss and working on them.
