What do you call a bass with no name?

That little equation is a big part of why I took up bass in the first place, @iblive. There always seems to be a gig for a solid bass player. I sold the Findus a while back, and I'm sure the fact it looked like 'the real deal' from a distance helped to sell it. At the same time, it obviously wasn't a Fender on closer inspection, so there was no chance of some unfortunate getting burned by a fake down the line.

I'm putting together a fretless Precision at the moment, and I thought 'Fretless' could make for a good headstock decal.

Thinking about it, 'fretless' and 'precision' is a bit of an oxymoron. After all, Leo Fender named the bass exactly because of the frets…

Of that I have no doubt.

From personal experience I can attest the guitar player gets the girl though. Maybe not a gig…. But for sure the girl. Counting the dating years, 51 years later I still have both the guitar and the girl….. and no gigs. ;)

EDIT: For the record. I also have a bass I've been playing more lately.

It's the drummer who has the really raw deal. All that gear and all those cases. Meanwhile: "I've still got some room in my car. Can I give you a lift anwhere?" :cool:

Back in 2016 we formed a 5 piece band at work to play at events. Of course it was the drummer who had the complete PA system, pole mounted speaks and a half height 19 rack with the power amp and mixer.
