What Do You All Think About This Lester?

It's a great looking guitar but in all honesty I couldn't bring myself to go into someone's house or even a store to try a guitar right now. There are several great deals on the local Craig's List because of people being laid off but I passing on them all.
in the tele trade today..great meet BTW,,,,we parked 2 spaces apart.....took guitars to areas, set down then walked back..both of us were on 1 knee hunched down strumming the guitars for half hour while talking..turns out we made a serious musical connection( gentleman is from Philly & we have mutual friends) we might team up for a project. J was in the car & we were having a conversation all socially distanced. Would of made a cool pic. Only people in the Burger King parking lot at Rockvale Square Outlets Lancaster PA.
For safety & being from 2 dif cities..chlorox wipe were involved.

Those are some unique streaks in that as well. That would be easy to pick out of a crowd of Pauls.
Thanks, it's one of those Gibson's that look quite different depending on the angle it's viewed from & the lighting conditions. Here's a couple more picks of the same guitarC__Data_Users_DefApps_AppData_INTERNETEXPLORER_Temp_Saved Images_gibson-les-paul-trad-2012-fro...jpgWP_20160413_009.jpg
Again, you can see the darkish 'board material that Gibson was using on this era Traditional's. Cheers
Edit:
Note that I've changed the bridge to a Faber ABRL (first pic). Cheers

I'm in awe of this LP you just bought. Looks absolutely beautiful and classy. A big congrats...
I will second that!^^^^^^^^!

Thanks Guys! I really lost sleep on this one trying to convince myself I didn't need it. But it is local and after looking at it
countless times and going back and forth with the seller to arrive at a suitable price I just caved.

It is one of the nicest Traditionals I've ever seen and it's a 2013, which I was trying to replace. Everyone says the 2013's
are some of the best of the modern era. And, I don't know if you saw my post, it's not Swiss Cheese Cut, but Solid!

Honestly, you couldn't have gotten a better specimen at that price or maybe even twice that rate. It's a real looker!

Maybe you should adhere to the @BFT Gibson meet up protocol to avoid contamination. Or better yet take a cue from Walter, he's got the ransom toss n go down to a T...

I've been looking and anything close to this is going for over $2300 and more.

As for the meet up, I'm not worried. I go out for groceries and I just wear an N95 mask and wash my hands when I get home.

I'll do the same with the guitar. A quick wipe down and all should be fine. I respect this bug going around, but it hasn't got
me hiding under the couch...

That is one beautiful guitar! Well sone! One thing of note, it may very well be that dark a fretboard, but it does seem poster has increased the clarity (sort of like contrast) of the pics thus showing details much better but also darkening the dark areas. Nothing wrong at all with that just showing it in it's best light so to speak. Look forward to your report tomorrow.

I still think it looks great. Sometimes Gibson just hits them out of the park , and makes really amazing guitars.

My '85 Standard, that I bought in '90 is one of them. This would give some of the best classic era and Custom Shop guitars a run for their money. And before the internet, I had no idea my Norlin era Les Paul was supposed to suck. Same goes for my '82 Standard.

I'm surprised I haven't come across any of those SX or Agile singlecuts. People often like to bring me budget guitars for tweaking. Only Agile Ive touched is a 7 string metal type thing that I dont recall the model, if they even told me. It played fine with a routine setup and was fairly well built. I think he paid $300 or so, iirc.

I had three of them and while they were decent guitars I just never bonded. I sold two and gave one away on here...

Damn, that's a nice LP too SG John. My only Norlin, an '81 Heritage 80 Standard is a bit plain in the looks departmentC__Data_Users_DefApps_AppData_INTERNETEXPLORER_Temp_Saved Images_gibson-les-paul-heritage-80_0...jpg
but is a great player with nice, rich tone. Cheers

2013 Traditional's definitely have a rosewood board, & it's a single slab of rosewood, unlike some made around that time frame that had the multi-layer rosewood board (I don't remember exactly which years had these).
Gibson was using some nice dark fingerboards around this time. Here's a pic of my late-ish 2012 traditionalView attachment 41051
Though the 'board isn't as dark as some (& it's looking a bit grimey & dry, due for a clean & oil), it's still representative of the darkish boards they were using at the time. Enjoy that fine traditional when it arrives. Cheers
That is a stellar guitar! The coloring is so perfect!

Wow, Quilt surrounded by flame. Amazing!

This is turning on to be a great thread, including a new guitar for Sp8ctre!

Plain has it's own appeal. There is a whole category of Gibsons called plain tops!

My '82 has a plain 3 piece top. It was when Norlin did get a bit cheap in their building. It was sometime in '82 that they decided to make Les Pauls more like the originals again, but this wasn't one of them. It is a great player, and the best of the six I played the day I bought it.
