Last band practice we started playing these:

«How Blue Can You Get» (B. B. King)
«Tore Down» (Freddie King)
«The Weight» (the Band)

At home I usually practice the tunes we do with the band, mostly to learn the lyrics and how to sing them. Guitar-wise I focus on learning new licks and chord progressions, not always specific tunes. Lately I’ve also been working a bit more systematically on playing things cleanly along with controlling vibrato and bends properly.

I've been playing guitar now for 30 years and I can't really play any cover tune from start to finish. When I pick up my guitar I usually improvise new riffs or solos & play what comes to mind. I guess I'm caught a bit in a guitar playing rut. I still have fun playing guitar...it's like meditation for me.

Working on some bass arrangements for voice & bass duo:

This envolves a lot of interesting things like playing chords on the bass, soloing with flageolets, percussive effects - but most demanding to me is getting the timing precise...

Ha, and harmonizing the text i discussed recently...
 
Been working on these two. I’m not a huge Bonamassa fan but I really like these two songs. Hard to find better songwriters than Tom Waits and John Hiatt.
 
I think I’m trying to come up with an interesting arrangement of “I Don’t Like Mondays”(Boomtown Rats). I have no idea why...I think I like the melody, and lyrics.
 
Everything I have learned pieces of and some all the parts but haven't quite put together the whole song. At least the rhythm parts.

Don’t really feel covers much, not too interested in playing other peoples’ music, but sometimes I get an itch...and lately the only thing I’ve wanted to learn Animals As Leaders songs, but I can’t because Tosin Abasi plays an 8-string (which I don’t have) and, well, he’s doing something so out of my wheelhouse I can’t even get my head around it.
