What are you working on musically?

No I can't play Bass and Drums at the same time I do have a 24 track recorder how it works is my friend Joe and I record songs
Joe on drums and me in guitar then Joe records a bass track then I will play keyboards if needed then we will record vocal tracks

My old band wants me back I just don't mesh with the new drummer we were together for ten years Doug didn't want to play drums anymore
so Joe and I write songs now keeps my brain alive Joe is a good drummer was on the road for 30 years now he plays bass and guitar and keyboards
just like me we make a good team photo of me at practice playing drums with the Dixie Land Jazz band before that was the drummer with the big band
thing is no money the big band 65 players in the band good education and we had to dress formal.

One thing I’m working on that’s really important to my playing is dealing with this pain in my left hand that radiates from the base of the thumb. I fear it’s arthritis. Not interested in another cortisone shot.

Yep. Us old guys (and Ramo) have issues. At least a lot of us do. So far, in spite of much the same issues already mentioned, after a few minutes playing my fingers get limbered up and I can play… or whatever one would call what it is I do. Frankly, in my case I think playing guitar is what’s keeping my left hand and fingers from going totally south on me. Exercise is good.

Im booking full body massage soon. Ive been having lower shoulder pain on left side for a while and I think my pains comes from there.

But to be honest my body has not been a same since that stroke 5y ago. I know we age but dude i feel like been through war and back. Im 42 feeling like 42,000….

Anyhow…. I still push forward. Also, getting closer to get my taxi badge backs ( i hope they dont give me ne BS).

So i can be free again…. Im tired sitting in office…..

Well, I’m gonna see my doctor about my thumb. It’s not gonna get better on its own.

Had a super great jam to backing trax a couple days ago. I really centered myself, remembered both Robben’s admonition to “keep it simple” and Chick Corea’s advice to “play only what you hear… if you don’t hear anything, don’t play anything,” and I amazed myself. You know that feeling that you just played a bunch of great stuff you couldn’t play before? Like that. Had a real epiphany about my playing in general.
