What are you playing today

This one gets the most playing time by far.

Today, this bad-boy. 2016 plaintop with a set of '78 T-Tops in it. It's the best-sounding Les Paul I have ever owned.

I have TTops in my 76 Custom. Changed out tne bridge to a 57+ just because of unpotted PUp squeal.
I should maybe have given it more of a chance. I liked it tonally with my SC20 Marshall in particular.
Can always revert back.

T-Tops are my favorite pickups ever. I mean, probably the majority of music I listened to in the 70s and 80s was recorded with the dern things. They are good at everything.
I tried 57s in my '79 Custom and almost immediately yanked them back out and put the T's back in. Will probably find a set for my goldtop at some point as well.

Hmmm. No issues with non potting?
Remember I am not that picky with subtle tone differences. I tend to use what I have and compensate with the amp, likely not the smartest method.

I think the tradeoff is worth it. Unpotted pickups just simply sound better (they do, they really do), and honestly the only time I have any issues with squeal/feedback is if I am kind of right in the line of fire. Been playing these pickups basically my whole life as well and you do kind of learn to instinctively deal with any noise issues by turning, muting, etc. I will note that the uncovered ones in the guitar above are much less prone to any kind of squeal than the covered ones in my Custom, which is why I took the covers off in the first place. I would take them off the Custom too but my vanity kicks in and reminds me I don't like the way uncovered pickups look on a Custom.

Ah ok. I do have covers on mine. I did like it tonally as I said. To be fair I have gigged the 335 with non potted MHS pickups PLUS being hollow body and wih some care it was fine. I am a gainy guy..
I may change that back n give em a good listen.

If you do, and decide they are not for you, let me know. I am always looking for a clean set of original T-Tops.
