What Are You Doing Right Now?

Oops.

When I was a younger I'd get out in that kind of weather just to prove I could. Now that I'm old I stay home and inside on a forecast.
Lol I'm not a fan by any means. Unfortunately, I had the replacement scheduled for today and if i cancelled it would've been another week or so. The windshield had a full crack from an impact from a coal truck that flung a chunk into the passenger side of the windshield last week. Weather got cold and it shattered from one side, clear across to the other lol so it was either risk the trip today or risk having it just separate entirely at the rate it was heading.

Ya gotta do what ya gotta do for sure. I grew up and spent most my life in rural western Illinois and now NE Illinois. It snows. Sometimes a lot. I trust my ability to navigate bad roads and get from Point A to B. It's the other clueless idiots on the road that scare me.

My foray outside today is to fire up the snow blower and get rid of the few inches we got overnight.

Stay safe once you get to head home.

My FoxPro caller finally stopped working after a whole lot of years.
And the company couldn't fix it due to its age, so they offered me 30 percent off a new model.
I got it in Wed night, charged it up, programmed it how I wanted.... and I took it out on its maiden voyage this morning. I went to some new spots I've never tried calling before..seems to have paid off!

Still working on my "new" Thorens TD150 Mk2 turntable. New plinth, Vintage SME 3009 S2 tonearm and new dust cover in place. The Ortofon 2M Blue cartridge will be replaced with a 2M Bronze shortly, and it really needs a new power chord. It plays like a dream, but (like with guitars) tinkering is fun. The local record store bar had a jazz sale this weekend, so I've got some listening to do as well...

Well….I just got in from my first “audition” in a really loooong time. Singer for an “alt 90s cover band”. I’m not happy with myself. I think I’m happy just slogging around with original stuff, and whatever “covers” I wish to indulge myself in…. That….and I sucked….hardcore. Auditioning for a singing gig with only bass and drums, and having to play a strange guitar…for strange songs(had two days to learn three songs…two of which I have only ever heard in passing…neither of which I had ever entertained learning). I guess I read too much into the ad.
But hey! I had my first bolt on Epi SG experience…with a super short strap…and through a SS Laney. I warmed up to it after a while…but the neck dive was epic. I am spoiled. And the two guys I jammed with were nice.

Hopefully the audition went well for you and you get the job….. if you really want it. Tuff to get excited about doing music you’re not 100% into. If it puts you on a stage though…. Could be fun!!!

When I bought my G400 neck dive was a bit of a thing. First thing I did was stuck one of my good leather straps on it. That helped immensely. Then a bit down the road replaced the original Epi tuners with a set of Gibson Vintage Tuners that I believe came in at a few grams less per tuner. Regardless. Combination made neck dive non existent.

It was one of these, in gloss red….

The strap pin was on the back of the upper horn. The neck was nice enough to play on, but the body kept tipping off my gut…toward the floor. Not conducive to playing and singing strange material, in an impromptu fashion. Would be an excellent “recliner guitar”. It stayed in tune pretty well. I’m definitely not trying to slog the Epi.
I was in a strange place, handed a strange strap, and a cable. I brought a microphone, clip tuner, a bottle of water, and an iPad.
