Got a new to me Sthil chainsaw at the pawnshop earlier today.
That made me LOL and bend over at the waist.
Who would pawn a chainsaw?

What'd you get? Worked at a store many years ago that sold Stihl goodies. Bought a Farm Boss (MS290). Not sure they still make those. I've been abusing that thing since 2004 and it hasn't missed a beat.Got a new to me Sthil chainsaw at the pawnshop earlier today, I had to resist guitar itch while there.
A spouse!! I have a pair of jeans and coveralls that have been sliced and diced by my chain saw. Lucky both times. Chain never hit skin. Mistakes happen fast. That made me LOL and bend over at the waist.

I don’t know but I went back today and exchanged it for a different one. They have nearly a dozen. That made me LOL and bend over at the waist.

MS 170 and went back and traded it for the MS 210.What'd you get? Worked at a store many years ago that sold Stihl goodies. Bought a Farm Boss (MS290). Not sure they still make those. I've been abusing that thing since 2004 and it hasn't missed a beat.
Well, the new starter has a “modern” bendix on it and requires bell housing mods to fit. That ain’t gonna happen. Off to find an EXACT replacement. The good news is we got the old starter off to compare.Bet that one’s easier to replace than the one I helped a friend with back in the 70s. Starter died on his 70 something Plymouth….. in the middle of winter. Under the car we went. Got it done…. But was not a fun time had by all.![]()

I was going to buy a 210 or 250. Guy I worked with at the time told me to get the Farm Boss. I wouldn’t be happy with the smaller ones. He knew I was clearing timber to build our house. Boy was that a good call.MS 170 and went back and traded it for the MS 210.
So here’s my issue with this. Keep in mind. I worked behind a parts counter for 40 years. A 1951 Ford of any kind did not have a starter on it with the “modern” bendix. Mistakes happen. Heaven knows I made them. But this isn’t a mistake. It’s called too lazy to look up the correct part.Well, the new starter has a “modern” bendix on it and requires bell housing mods to fit. Well, I did that awful ASSUME thing that the vendor was selling a direct replacement. So I found a rebuilt one from Napa with the same original style bendix. So here’s my issue with this. Having been a Parts Guy forever is both a blessing and a curse. Having been there done that… I try and give the person behind the counter some grace. Be understanding when they really are doing their job and just have a brain f@rt. Things happen. But on the other hand, I tend to not have a lot of patience with incompetence or apathy.Well, I did that awful ASSUME thing that the vendor was selling a direct replacement.
