Today i purchased a Tucson N Line Hybrid, exactly like this one, except the colour of mine is Chrystal White, I did a deep dive in research, before i purchased. It has the 1.6Turbo of course with the electric motor. 231 H.P, very comfortable sporty ride , you can feel the road in a nice way, with the tuned suspension gives it extra flavor, seats are very comfortable. The interior is gorgeous. The transmission is smoooth, and if you step on it, its quick! gas mileage estimate is 38 mpg city highway combined.

Electric engine runs up to 80Kms hour, then the gas takes over. I was impressed with the handling, sticks to the road cornering, no roll.

Traded up my 2019, the sales manager and i did the deal, i have to say it was one of the best experiences i have had in dealing with sales people on a new vehicle. I believe this is now my 12th new vehicle and this is my 4th new Hyundai, I have had 3 Santa Fe's and now this Tucson. They have given me excellent service as you can tell.

My Santa Fe Suv has been flawless like my other ones. Whoever gets it , is getting a great Suv. It was 2.0 Turbo was quick great fuel mileage for a vehicle of its size. Now you can imagine my new machine which is the size of my 2014 Santa Fe turbo, with is slightly smaller with 231 H.P.

I hope it gives me good service. Anyway here's a short video. Looking forward to picking it up this Thursday.

Back in 1984 I was wrenching at a BMW - Maserati dealership. The owner of the store opened up the very 1st Hyundai dealership in the USA. I was asked to drive to that dealership and do the PDIs on the new arrivals. I did the very first PDI (pre delivery inspection) on the very first car to arrive at the very first dealer in the USA. My claim to fame!

Well I decided to go for it now, to get a vehicle that has the look and options i like. Hyundai makes vehicles that are reliable. The thing is that troubles me is the most of the car makers are starting to build SUVs and cars that to me are as ugly as sin. They are making them boxy ugly in the back, ugly from the sides, weird looking lights etc the list goes on.

Hyundai now has started, that's why i didn't buy another Santa Fe. Honda, Toyota, Subaru. GM, Ford all the same IMHO This Tucson fit the bill for me in every way. Next years model is going to be ugly their changing them to look like Kona's. I knew this was going to be the last year for me to jump at the chance and make the change to get this vehicle. I have to like the looks of what i drive or its a no go.

One time i bought a vehicle that i didn't like the looks of because i cut a very good deal on it. After a few months of driving it around i regretted buying it, some time later i dealt it off, I said never never again will i do that, ever. This vehicle to me has styling that will carry on for some time. Will still have that cutting edge style.

Congrats , I am mystified at the mileage.
In 2026 even with a hybrid they can’t do better than 50mpg.
We just traded in our 2019 Toyota Yaris / 40 mpg , all gas.

We bought 2 year older 2017 Lexus NX200T , much more luxurious and half the mileage. The plates just came a week ago.
It doesn’t even get 30 mpg I don’t think.
But is Turbo.
I have owned dozens of Toyota, first Lexus. I know , same manufacturer.

My 2019 turbo Santa Fe 2.0 31-33 mpg i get on this SUV on a highway run at 120kms an hour which is great . The Tucson in the picture says its a full hybrid, it isn't . That model shown in the picture has a 1.6 turbo w/ electric motor like the one i bought.

Is it a “plug in” hybrid? I’m not well versed in the Hyundai offerings.

Mine is not plug in .. around town it runs the electric motor up to 80 kms an hour. when you break or go down hills it charges the battery, once over 80kms hour the gas engine takes over which intern charges up the battery which is a lithium battery. The two engines work together which increases power. I believe the lithium battery runs all electronics and electric motor. You have another battery 12 volts used for the gas engine.

A full on EV uses battery power only and has to be plugged in.

I stand corrected Don.

What Each Model Is Called

Hyundai sells two Tucson models that combine a gasoline engine with an electric motor:

  • Hyundai Tucson Hybrid (HEV) — a standard hybrid that cannot plug in.It uses a 1.6‑litre turbo gas engine + electric motor + battery, and it charges itself while driving.
  • Hyundai Tucson Plug‑in Hybrid (PHEV) — a plug‑in hybrid that can charge from a wall outlet. It also uses a 1.6‑litre turbo gas engine + electric motor, but with a larger battery that gives electric‑only driving for short distances.
Both are sold in Canada, including Ontario.

Thanks. I have been driving similar, though with a relatively puny electric motor, for almost 12 years. It has worked well enough for me. It has shown me that I would prefer to avoid “full electric” in my climate, but this type of mild hybrid can be “good enough”.
I get excellent mileage above 50°F. Below that the electric is less impactful on efficiency…in any positive manner.

Your welcome Yes this is nice with both gas and electric The Tucson makes two hybrids with both using electric and gas, but they do not make as of yet this model with full electric. Mine is called HEV non plugin.

This one is full electric, i am not interested in them at all. Electric/gas best of both worlds. IMHO.

. Hyundai Ioniq 6 — Fully Electric (Current Model)

  • Battery: 77.4 kWh
  • Range: Up to 581 km (one of the longest ranges in Canada)
