Welcome, Tori

Hope this is the right place to post this but here is some info on me as an introduction:
hi,
A bit of info on me:
I am Tori Clay but, until about 5 years ago I was Vic Clay, a moderately successful, SAGAFTRA, actor with a long resume of about 60 films and 25 plays plus directing, producing, shooting, writing, coaching on set, coaching privately, combat, stunts, stunt driving, precision driving, musician, singer/dancer, standup, comedy improv and more. "He", worked with A list stars and I don't mean just background. Close enough to be pranked and to prank them back. He came close to making it big more than once. Had a hit commercial on ESPN and a funny VO on a cable biz channel. Played every type of character and every size role including toplined features. Did pretty much anything one can do above or below the line for the big or small screen, stage, audience, or radio.

I came out as a transgender woman and stayed a SAGAFTRA member but as an actress. My agent immediately dumped me. I went from the resume above to having no resume and all I got in the interim was 2 plays. The Boston Globe did recognize me for the first one and they put our tiny, ensemble cast show into their Top Ten Best of Boston for 2016, ahead of huge shows with huge stars. I made the audience shatter the 4th wall in that show. I was solo, spot, doing a mono and breaking down so bad that they forgot they were watching an actor in character so they shouted out that they loved me just to cheer me up!! Not many actors can claim that. Otherwise, my career basically died.

I was the acting coach, assistant director and sang and danced in the chorus of, "Surreal Soiree". That is our multimedia, rock and rap, opera with animation and narrative film and dance and live kick-ass music that we were playing around here until a health tragedy befell the man that conceived it and we won't be doing it ever again.

Then early this year I got one of the most perfect gigs that could be imagined for me. I did not even have to audition. It was a play written by the Academy Award winner, Jose Rivera, that wrote Motorcycle Diaries and had not been up in this area, (Boston), before. I had the smallest role. I also had the largest role. The smaller one was a transvestite in a women's prison in Columbia. "He" was just a shell of a human after years of torture and rape in a men's prison. The large role was the Directora, the head warden of the prison. I had 2 different Hispanic voices and characterizations and was ready to slay but on showing up for tech night we were told the theatre was closed and there would be no show. The covid closed everything around here.

Recently, I resigned from SAGAFTRA too. There was no point to it anymore for me. I also told all the casting people that I would now be willing to audition and perform as female, male, or anywhere else along the gender spectrum. It was not that long ago when that would have been really hurtful for me to even think about.

More about me would be that I am the first-ever transgender female art model to be signed to an agency contract. I was booked to art classes to pose nude. I am also a graphic artist, published author, and the director of the Screaming Ostrich Filmmaker's Festival, seen at www.screamingostrich.com. We are for all forms of video content up to 15 mins long in any format, just no porn, no hate, and be over 18 unless the folks sign. We use film freeway for submissions. We are entering our second year. We inaugurated it with 4 Boston venues over 3 days and nights last year but this year we had 4 and have already had to cancel 3. One was our first ever all LGBT show. That killed me. I had arranged corporate sponsorship and a fantastic venue.

Another thing the virus has cost me is music. I just started last year on a dare. My friend's band was taking a set break and they dared me to play one of my own songs. I had not played for anyone since I was a kid, a male, and had perfect hearing. All gone now. I was electrified by the great response seeing a crowd grooving to my own music and so that one song became 5 that day and they were thanking me and hugging me and it was nuts. So I kept doing it. I started playing all over as a singer/songwriter/guitarist, just doing my own original rock and yet getting them to sing along to what they never heard before. More often than not, an audience member comes to me and compares me to Lou Reed, or Iggy, or Elvis Costello. I wear hearing aids so like I tell my crowds, I have no idea what I sound like. I just figure as long as they are not throwing shoes, I am no worse than the last time! I have a great patter too that keeps their attention and gets laughs. A pro comic even complimented me on my writing and delivery. I even had a producer fall in love with my music and he was taking me into the studio to record. I miss playing now. Another casualty of the virus.

UPDATE: I have been doing a lot of performing online lately. In the last few months, I did 4 shows with the same production company, Quarantine Players. In "Divanalysis", the lead as the Professor and I interacted with Judy Garland, Liza, Bette, and Karen Carpenter, and hilarity ensued. Next was "CSI Grandma", as a male, and I was a Russian assassin. Then was, "30 Deep" with me in a great ensemble as a 'Nam vet Texas cowboy. It is a very moving show. Last was "Washington Squares" a political take on the old "Hollywood Squares" with pols like Pence and Biden in the squares and Pelosi and McConnel playing and me as the host but, not as Peter Marshall but, as a reimagined Chris Matthews. They have all had thousands of views, been nominated for awards, and even got some coverage in the press and they are free on all the streamers like iTunes and Spotify, etc.

I came to the attention of a Hollywood radio show which booked me as a guest to discuss my decades in the biz. It was for Election Day morning but when they realized how hectic the studio would be they pushed me to Thursday. On Election Day they woke me from a sound sleep to say they wanted me on NOW, lol! In 5 minutes I was on the air nationally being an entertaining guest, making them laugh and playing my guitar and singing, without coffee or even water. It was an honor to play my song, "As Seen On TV" as it starts off as societal commentary but morphs into a scathing commentary on the administration of 45. It went so well that they had me back on the original planned following Thursday but that time for over an hour and ended with them playing their recording of my song again. Resulting from all this exposure, I got a call from a producer on the coast to discuss doing a new reality TV show all about me! Then a call from a producer with a project with a 9 figure budget saying he wanted me involved! I have now spoken with these people about 8 times and one says he plans to fly me out there with a guest but I have been doing this long enough to only get excited when I see a contract or a check.

UPDATE 2 , 1/20/20: A major, A-list star in music and film reached out to me last week.I am talking like Hollywood royalty with a whole famous family and extended family. We have had a lot of casual conversations since and he is a really nice guy. Then, he went to Youtube and watched my crappy little cell video from a party and wrote to tell me he really liked my song, "As Seen On TV". ! Really made my day! We are also chatting about a movie he wrote and will produce. After that, a star from a tv show on the BBC in the UK reached out, and again we have had casual, friendly chats. I have also been doing a bunch more performing online. Last month I was on the same bill with Mellissa Ferrick, (who has about 17 albums out), playing for the Girls Rock org and it went great. A few days ago I played music in an LGBT online variety show to a great response. I also used my superpower, which is putting people together. I matched up a songwriter in the UK with a local friend that is a great singer and actress. The result was the stunning and professional music video of their song, "Black Friday Love". I guess that makes me like maybe the world's first deaf record co-producer, lol.

As for gear, I just had to put most of my guitars away in the cases for a bit. It was my first time counting them. The total was 71!! That is way too much. I bought them since I was a kid and rarely sold any though. Turns out, I sold all the wrong ones. The new 20th anniversary LP in black with gold hardware. The Ricks like the one like Lennon had and the one with the built-in light show. The first good Ibanez sold in the USA, for a few. I guess there are about 5 in Tele style, 10 in Strat style, 3 offsets, 3 semi-hollow bodies, 6 LP types, 4 Variaxes's, off the top of my head.

My first was a Yamaha strat exactly like the one Link Wray played on Rumble. And there is also about 8 acoustics. I have way more than my abilities justify having. Got rid of lots of great amps too. My first was a Champ which was followed by a bunch of other Fenders that I can not even recall the names of now except the Princeton. They were all combos and one had 4 10's or 12's. I had an old red Vox keyboard and a Rhoades piano too.

So the file above chronicles a chunk of my life. Most of it about me as a professional entertainer. Most of my career spent acting on stage, film, and tv and only recently doing music which only started when my friend's band took a set break and they dared me to play one of my own songs, knowing full well that I had not played anything for anyone since I was a kid, save for a film or two. I took the dare and the crowd went crazy! I played a few more and when I stopped they were hugging me and thanking me. It was so electrifying to see people dancing and grooving to my own music! That was the start. I started playing all over here in Boston, Ma., and getting great reactions. Usually, someone comes up and compares me to Lou Reed or Iggy or Elvis Costello and I get told my tunes sound like hits from classic rock.

Some recent highlights include the honor of playing my, "As Seen On TV" on Election Day morning on a Hollywood radio station to the USA and playing a charity benefit online on the bill with Melissa Ferrick, and having one of the Hudson Brothers reach out to me to tell me he really liked it too. That made my day! Heck, my week!

Greetings @Tori
Welcome to our little piece of the interweb. We are a friendly group here that love swapping stories, pics, sound and video clips and friendship. Aside from the gear you mentioned, I also read something about a hot rod. Now you have my attention. I'm sure @eSGEe will pop in sometime regarding your 2 wheel transportation. As for me, I'd really like to see your car.
