... playing with 'Noise R Us!', an unusual ensemble with fretless bass, guitar, drums, and a 5 saxophone front line (sometimes even 6 when the lead singer broke out his tenor).

Of course. I was a huge fan of Elvis as well.
He's one of the only contemporary songwriters whose work i would say is on a par with the classic Great American Songbook tunesmiths like Cole Porter.

Who else could write something like that?
It's a song that is basically about stalking and killing a girl ... that has become a romantic favourite thanks to a beautiful melody and somewhat ambiguous lyrics.

He had a TV show where he would get other great songwriters on. They would play songs then talk about them. It was awesome but it didn't last long.
