Welcome Strat Talk folks!

I've been part of ST since 2012 excluding a self imposed exile for a couple of years around 2018-2020. It's always been an ebb/flow of personalities and modding styles but when I returned in 2020, it was clear something had changed. It seemed much more argumentative amongst the members and so may of my old friends were gone or posting less. I stayed on as there were enough old friends still there and I made some new ones along the way but I participate much less than in the past.

There are still many members who can't resist telling you in great detail why the sky is red if you say it's blue but those are easy enough to ignore. I must have missed all of this recent mod drama and I'm happy for it. I won't say anything bad about the mod in question other than I've never been close to him...although it was never for a lack of trying. I eventually stopped trying as I'm no one's sycophant.

It sucks that so many are now exiling themselves from the place but I understand. That's why I'm here since for me it's the people, not the place. If this is where the cool people are then I'll hang here as well. I'll still hang there as well as long as there are still some friendly names to be found.
I haven't been at ST much since Christmas. I've been ill or on the GT forum. I'm glad Reed told me about this place because there are a bunch of people I hadn't seen in awhile over there.

Is this one of Alex's forums as well? It seems like he has the market pretty much cornered on them. I have a couple of articles in the works for one one of his publications/forums. I don't know the man, never met him. I'm just getting paid to do some writing.

It seems like he doesn't visit the forums often.we had a troll over at Epi Talk last year with a hospitalized mods family member and he was unavailable, and one of the former mods couldn't get ahold of Alex.

The other forums are all different. You can get away with murder at MLP. Can't get away with the slightest infraction at GT, but if you're a mod the rules don't apply. Epi forum, only two Aholes over there, and they are on ignore. T d p r I. I stay away from there.

Main dude here at TTR is @WavMixer. He and a couple other guys started this several years ago. Wav is not only the main man…. But is the web site designer (someone correct me if that’s wrong) and head baby sitter that keeps this place operating. Today it is member supported as it got too expensive for Wav to keep it going. Several of us have donated cash to the cause to keep this place going.

One thing you’ll find is we’re small. Counting the influx of you new members, we’re sitting at a little over 500 members. One thing Wav has done is to write an algorithm that will delete accounts with no activity. Don’t remember the parameters, but something like no posts in a year and the acct gets dumped. I’m sure TTR is no different than other forums. We get a lot of people sign up…. And never post. Those go away. And no worries if you happen to take a hiatus for a spell. If you’ve been posting, you won’t get deactivated.

Automatic purging is a fine idea - don't think that is enabled over there. I have seen several accounts at ST post after years of inactivity.

Being a member of too many forums, as some of us are, it's always interesting to watch and weigh the culture of each. I do enjoy bumping into people from the past as we do the guitar community version of a perpetual pub crawl.

I am proud to call TTR my home base forum even if it may seem to be missing about fifteen to twenty more categories to post under :pound-hand:

We have a few members that posted a lot for years. And then stopped for reasons they know. Those accts are safe. Grandfathered so to speak. It’s primarily for those accounts that get set up and never ever used. Thinking some of them could be Bots? Or not??

Careful what you “wish” for Brad. @WavMixer has the tools to fix that.

Seriously?
I was able to get my ass out of bed for the first time in a week and felt almost human. Spouse was able to hug me and Little Bit immediately demanded I take her out to chase the laser bug (she chases a laser dot around the backyard). I don't do political. Haven't even watched the news since 2016...well except for an eventful day in early 2021.

So let me get this straight...
@Scott Baxendale (a genuine asset to any guitar related forum I might add) gets banned for posting a link to a youtube of one of the greatest songs ever written ... a post that did not by any measure violate any rule...

While at the same time...
another user posts a youtube link to an album, the image of which clearly violates forum rules...
and he gets a pass?

This is no different than lonn first defending a lawnboy advertising his counterfeit CS strats back at the end of April and a week later is himself posting an apparent request for a specific counterfeit decal (it was post 614929 on May 3... since removed from view after alex was told about it)

A double standard exists over there. One based upon the arbitrary and capricious.
Well, to be fair, if nobody reported that YT video we mods might not see it. We don't exactly trawl the site looking for violations.

I haven’t read back thru the entire thread, but should be noted. We have a time honored tradition of driving a thread right off the tracks. Usually anytime after the 5th-6th posting. I do believe the record for a derailed thread was the second post. And if memory serves…. The OP derailed it.

Friends I'm just kidding y'all on the strap thing, but I appreciate anyone looking at my wares,
and any *pertinent* questions are 100% welcome. Don't ask me how babies are made, why the sky is blue,
if tonewood is actually thing, and what is the best strap for top end tone, etc

Because I am easily twice as handsome as I am smart, and also the only current gear advertiser on TTR, I sometimes
overstep my bounds and may break out into veiled promotions, or sling suggestions. However, I do try to keep myself
in check for the most part. I try to earn my keep around here in other ways, guitar lessons, beauty tips etc.
