My invitation came from Far Rider. It took him telling me a couple of times before I finally gave it a go and even after I joined it took a while to feel comfortable. I was going thru some personal sh*t including health problems aggravated by PTSD and the forum I called home was falling apart at the seams so I was very down on forums at the time and was very reluctant to give a new one a try. I'm glad I stuck it out.

@WavMixer invited me. Took him a couple PM’s before I came and checked the place out. As like many of you coming from same forums….. Grant and I were frequent flyers on the same forum. Pretty much, I never go to the old one anymore. Just hang out here.

Oh. We’ve been down this road before for sure. But we stay civil about it. As is said. Different strokes for different folks.

I use to be a Pentium guy. Now I run a Xeon processor.

I had been in the AMD camp until recently. But no server class CPUs. The PC I am on now is probably 10 years old. Athlon 8350, 8 cores and only recently (a year and half) I had to build another machine because I had to wait too long in my CAD renderings.

Intel makes the Xeon. It's designed for servers. Pentium is designed for personal computers.

Yeah. Two Dells and an HP here. Be shopping for a new laptop in 2025. Mine doesn’t have the right guts to upgrade to Win11 and MS is dropping support for Win10 next year.

Really?! That sucks. I'm just now used to Win10. They've been bugging me since I bought my laptop to "upgrade" to Win11, but I've refused. I guess I might as well go ahead and do it now. I hate change! grumble grumble...

The interface between 10 and 11 will be a learning curve but not too bad. Kind of like moving into a strange new house, stumbling around with the lights off. After you stub your toes a few times, you'll learn your way around.
