The same thing happened to a local guy who builds very nice amplifiers. He's a long time repair guy too. He tried answering a few questions on a forum, and was accused of trying to drum up business. Ever since, he stays away from social media just as a matter of principle.

I was able to get my ass out of bed for the first time in a week and felt almost human. Spouse was able to hug me and Little Bit immediately demanded I take her out to chase the laser bug (she chases a laser dot around the backyard). I don't do political. Haven't even watched the news since 2016...well except for an eventful day in early 2021.
So let me get this straight...

A double standard exists over there. One based upon the arbitrary and capricious.

Some might think the same here. However, I can tell you that this mod crew is made up of humans that are also gear-heads, and/or musicians. I don’t think that any of us are overly/overtly concerned with politics. Some of us have been here long enough to remember what happened with the “open discussion” area that was established in the early days of the forum…might have been called “the woodshed” iirc…discussion that took place there was to stay there. This proved to be impossible. Animosity, and resentment, flourished there…and infected the rest of this place. Rest assured that there are belief-sets that vary wildly amongst the members here, and we learned quickly that there is no changing that. We lost some valuable humans to that atmosphere, and learned that prior to our knowing of these beliefs, we were quite happy with each other. Those that remained agreed to respect the privacy of each other’s beliefs in those arenas. Generally things go well. Subtleties tend to leak through on occasion(often through casual content), and it’s difficult to discern intent sometimes…sometimes not…yes there are bots to be found wandering, but they’re not patrolling for political content. It is a fellow human forumite that has to discern the intent of a forum brother/sister here. Mostly, we try to be mindful of divisive content that may trigger a negative response from any of our friends that we may interact with here. We are a tight group on this forum, and most of us tend to like it to stay peaceful…at least it seems that way.
