So, for a while now, i have been thinking about weight reduction, with respect to my music gear, to help with my old SI joint injury, which has sidelined me a few times over the past few months.
The DSL40C has been, and continues to be, a really good amplifier for me. I have been using the ECC823/5751/7025-WA/5751 tube combination exclusively for quite a while now with good results. The gain is much more organic sounding with these tubes. I have also used a JJ ECC81 in V3 with very good sonic results, and broader adjustability of the tone controls.
The 100 watt Jensen Jet Tornado Neodymium speaker was a great weight savings modification and it sounded unexpectedly great too. No matter how hard you push the speaker, it doesn't break up.
I've been thinking about converting my primary DSL40C to a head, with one of Mission Engineering's cabinets, and getting a Mark DV 150 single 12" extension cabinet, which weighs only 18 pounds, to save both weight and size.
I have no converted (2) DSL40C'S to heads using the Mission Engineering cabinet. The finished head weighs only 35 pounds.

One question...When converting the DSL40C to a head, do you think a cooling fan would be beneficial, or is back screen/mesh cooling adequate???
