I think the meteorologist’s are bored. They have a new term. “Bomb Cyclone”
It’s sounds bad. I think it’s to early to joke about it yet because if it does what they are saying the West coast could be devastated. Suppose hit around Tuesday, yesterday and today

“The term "bomb cyclone" comes from the real meteorological term "bombogenesis."

Term I’d never heard before was Atmospheric River. Think the first time was last year. Or Polar Vortex when several years ago the Midwest got hammered with extreme low temperatures shooting down out of the polar region.

They can’t predict sheet, so they invent new words to justify their existence.
Yeah, I saw the headline about the bomb cyclone and the atmospheric river

We must live in the same area more jammin cause ive heard that term before round here.Im up in very corner of NE Washington. Yep Bomb cyclone.sounds scary lol.

CNN headline just a bit ago. Whatever the weather guys want to call it…. It’s real and it ain’t good.

At least 1 dead and hundreds of thousands without power as bomb cyclone slams Washington state, British Columbia

Oh ya its real See i just seen on the morning news that west coast this year having the most atmospheric rivers comming ashore.looks like alot are aimed right at California.Ya there no joke..California cant handle all that rain at once. Your right iblive its not a good thing. The name is a fairly new term ive heard in the last couple years

What I remember from last year was the atmospheric rivers that hit CA. They went from extreme drought and reservoirs drying up to water was no problem in what seems like just a few weeks. That was a lot of rain. Not that drought still wasn’t an issue, but many of their reservoirs had refilled to acceptable levels.

Here ya go ibilve.right off the news.Im over where it says Kettle Falls.Im east of that area a bit. The north cascades are gonna get pounded Screenshot_20241120_044721_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20241120_044757_Gallery.jpg

Our news out of Chicago was mentioning some of this. LOTS of rain and snow in the mountains being measured in feet before it’s over.
Which, getting 2-3ft of snow in the Colorado Rockies may not always be that unusual…. That’s not normal for you guys in Washington…. Is it?

Well up north it is.last year wasnt to bad.Im about 100 miles north of Spokane.both are 2000 feet elevation.Them north cascades hyways get crazy snow in the passes.

On the west side of Oregon and Washington on the lower elevations no as a rule dont get snow in feet anymore. Passes over the cascades and up north yep it gers feet deep.

Portland , over the past few years has got snow but not much. So when it freezes, it a recipe for disaster. Further south we had ice storms that destroyed power lines and trees.
The wind in Easter Oregon can get to quite fast.
