We Recorded This Albert King Cover & Abandoned It:

Apologies, got sidetracked.

Ill listen tonight.

Ok,

I double tracked the vocals to give it depth, so what you hear in the left and right speaker is actually two separate vocal takes. The guitar solo and outro are also double tracked.

Let me know what you think and compare it against the first version posted on page 1 of this post.

Trying to find a way to blend the original feel of this song with a more heavy rock tone and yet not lose the rabbit...

Now Robert I know you are looking for a means to an end,,,,,,,,,,,,,, that leads to better reactions from fans,,, a following etc.

I think it all boils down to entertaining showmanship over nailed it chops and purity of sound.
I mean look how popular the Chili's are. They funk it out to the max, and basically bring the house down with fun and feel. Crazy outfits and George Clinton didn't hurt either.

I think one comment to this next video says a lot.

" I miss that kind of FUNK in today's RHCP" It is that tapping the toes in the back row, dancin in the aisles type jams that are when players hit the bulls eye. Song Selection, and like I said, presentation of the SHOW,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, is what hooks the crowds.

All due respect, I've tried to listen to these Kats and I can't get more than 30 seconds in!!!!

Think about AC/DC

NO super complex fast fingers boggle the minds of critics and fans alike songs. SO what kept AC/DC in the forefront of fans minds?
Their catchy tunes and showmen.

Angus, Bon, Brian,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, and of course Malcolm. Flat out put on a show and left fans wanting more, because it was fun!!!

Well like I said one time about guitars,,,,,,,,,,, Some fit like a well broken in pair of jeans, others hurt your feet like a bad pair of shoes.

Chilipeppers may be hard to listen to for you Rob, but their formula has a track record that made them a household name and millions of $$ I am sure.
Some may hate AC/DC,,,,,,,,,,,, or like Gball does, Hates Blues bands. BUT the answer is, And we are who? The fans. Those bands who created a way to become popular to enough people, are the ones who had the goods to grab, hold onto and grow fans.

Same can be said of Metal. Great guys like Ramo, He LOVES metal Chuggin music,

Session, or yargnad or a few others feel the same about the Friedman's, Kerry King's of the music world. They feel the same as you do about RHCP and yet I bet they have other bands they enjoy that have their own HOOK to gain and keep fans.

Same can be said for Country music, Jazz, Hip Hop, etc. Some players may have the chops,,,,,,,,, but the showmanship and how they gel as a band determines a lot.

Hey Robert, I know you can do it,,,,,,,,,,,,, There is nothing short of hitting the right formula just like getting a guitar intonated right.
Once you get it, it chugs on down the tracks just like a train. You just have to find how to make IT and YOU ( and band) mesh and get THAT out before the right crowds.

That and to keep on doing the good paying gigs like parties, sessions etc.

Here is a guy I saw maybe 12 years ago when a buddy was playing guitar for him at a little Festival in a part of town known as Dundalk Md.

I knew the name, but none of his work, but even at 70-75 years of age, he still drew a crowd and had tons of the OLDER crowd as fans, likely fans for their lifetimes too. Here is is on Dick Clark

HEHE Robert, check out some of the low down from some of the Swampers from Muscle Shoals.

@ 5:29 Jimmy Johnson mentions Wexler asking him to give him a little giggy giggy gongy gongy. It must have worked.

Wexler then said, "Thank the Lord, I like it Baby....."

Then @ 6:06 They go on to say Rod Stewart thought the band was the roadies and he was expecting the band to be black and almost left from thinking a fast one was being played on him.

HAHA
