Watt is actually LOUD?

Honestly-- I dont do "loud" anymore -- I did -- and now-- truly LOUD music is painfiul--not sarcasm, its ACTUALLY painful ---

so --- for me even a 5 watt can be TOO LOUD --

my ROLAND Micro Cube barely gets above Vol level 5 and its 3 watts!!!

good rich tone-- at a volume that you can HEAR all the tone-- to me is best--

maybe why I prefer bass-- the lower frequencies I can tolerate at louder volumes

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! What er you talkin about , you're getting old me Boy!!! I get it!!:D

I don’t really do loud at home anymore, either.

I remember the days when my kids yelled at me to turn down my music. Sometimes, I may crank an amp if I’m home alone, but generally, I practice with more sensible volume levels.

It pays off. My hearing is still good for my age.

I have my little DST U84 TNT that is switchable between 2 and 8 watts. I'd like to try it along with my Eminence loaded Sovtek 2x12 at rehearsal sometime, but I don't think it would cut it against the bass player's Acoustic 300/360 set up with the 4x12 cab. Or, our heavy hitter of a drummer. Usually, a 50 watt Marshall or DST head is good for practice. If we're doing more proggy stuff, I prefer a 100 watt head.

We still mostly play clubs with inadequate PA systems, and guitars and such are never mic'd. As reminded last week, every bass player that night was too loud, and once the bass speakers' sound opened up about 15 feet from the stage, you couldn't even hear the guitar. My 50 Watt DST Solera was more than halfway up, pushing a Fane loaded Hiwat 4x12, and everyone told me they couldn't hear me. I wish they told us after the first song to make adjustments, but the soundman didn't seem to be interested in doing his job.

I use the Hiwatts at home practicing because they still sound good turned down, and they are dialed in tone-wise. Sometimes I use the little DST or my Deluxe Reverb.

I wouldn't mind playing my DST-30 again, but those guys are too loud.
