Aside from all that -----"gloves off" ----you lot MISSED THE "F"ING POINT

75.00 guitar on "tour" with a pro band ,,,,,,, MAKING MUSIC FOR $$$$ ...

No, I don't think I missed the point. I saw right away that the drummer wasn't wearing a hat!

Oh...you mean the instrumentation...I caught that, too.

I did like the vibe of the tune.

the real "F" all of the post ......you dont have to spend 7 thousand dollars and put 8 million into
gear/amps/pedals and pick ups and gold plated strings kissed by the Pope......to make music......
geesh

We lot did not miss the "THE "F"ING POINT". as you so eloquently put it.

IMHO his "tone" sucks.
IMHO the other guy's tone sucks too, just not as much.

...and no, it's not my computer speakers.
(I use a pair of good studio monitors for my computer.)

...and yes, it is a stupid argument to start with because
the perception of tonesuckism is completely subjective.

...and I completely agree with the "F"ING POINT" because.

I know you don't have to use up a metric ton of money to get a decent tone.
I'm the guy that played every R & B club in Manhattan with a guitar I paid
$150.00 for and a $59.95 Zoom 505 II in case you forgot.
IMHO my tone did not suck.

You're trying to sell snowballs to Eskimos in my case.

My knit hat is from the $1.99 store.
Not a boutique hand made by tone elves hat.
Not a vintage "better in the old days" hat either.
Just a hat, plain and simple (like me).

Hand knit tends to be bright. The tighter the weave, the more it will roll off the treble. I do not want to get too far off track, so I will explain my treble bleed mod in another thead.

I wear a knit hat at times.
I wonder if it changes my tone.
I line the insides of mine with tin foil; then no one sees it.
it cuts down on the tinnitus buzz from the flourescent light ballasts and AM broadcasts.

I wear knit type hats often as a type of hair-replacement.
No kiddin', bald noggin gets cold.

Good thinking. Foil cuts down on hum

Makes ya tap your foot......and want to move your butt......really isnt that WHAT music is supposed to do?

Sure multi layered over engineered technically AMAZING and scientifically precise music is "commended" for the YEARS of dedication the musician has spent to hone his/her craft....but in the end......

this makes folks MOVE.....

Like this........not hard.......but it works

Well, here goes: I f'ing HATE Chuck Berry. Can't stand his music, never could, don't understand the slavish love for the guy.
I absolutely revere the Ramones though.

I'll go you one better GBall...I don't like Clapton at all...never understood the hype...not my kind of sound I guess...and I love the Sex Pistols!

I like Cream and Blind Faith, but not because of Clapton. For the most part I don't really like his music and ohmygawd, why did that man ever pick up a Stratocaster? Most anemic, thin, lifeless tone I have ever heard.

So your hat has the extraterrestrial shielding option?
Where did you have it done and was it a DIY project?

...and yes, bald head = hat in winter and baseball cap
in summer because we do NOT want sunburn up there.

Here's a hat for you Tony Manhattan...it will shield your brain from impure thoughts.:p

I'm gonna take a risk and try to be a peacemaker, here.

It may blow up in my face, but here goes...

Tony, I really don't think Adrian was trying to be insulting. In another context and with another person, I think you'd have a point. But, I really saw his comment about the "'F'ing Point" as a tongue-in-cheek statement of feigned astonishment to make a point. I don't think he was trying to be intentionally insulting.

Sure, he'll "poke the bear" a bit, as in his good-natured sparing with RVA over adjustable pickups.

But, I don’t believe anything he said was done in spirit of contention or animosity.

That said, if I have made an incorrect assumption about your feelings or thoughts on this, then you have my apologies.

What a load of hooey.
Adrian is always trying to start fights.
Why are you trying to defend him?
Does he "have something on you"?
Is this some kind of conspiracy against me?
Is everyone else gonna pile on too?
I knew it all along right from the beginning!
Everybody is out to get me!
Just like all the other times.
I can't say ANYTHING!
GRRRRR!!!

All Strats, or EC with a Strat?

BTW, you are 75 posts away from an Ambassador postition!

with some little amps---a small venue--- a couple EPIPHONES and talent...

Growing up, hanging out in Mom's studio, and down at Buck's studio, I quickly saw how a lot of "junk" was used on great recordings.

Obviously, this Kat is a talented dude and that really does transcend the need for expensive gear.

I won't suggest you can't get a good tone with a small amp, but I just don't mess with anything less than my DSL40C's.

I still have my 5 watt 1959 Sears Silvertone Tube Amp - but I doubt you will see me playing it anytime soon.... :-)
