Watching PBS British Invasion

The Yardbirds...
Not sure if they are considered part of the British Invasion or not, but three of The Yardbirds guitarists sure made an impression on a lot of American musicians. I'll never be able to play the blues correctly, I learned from a bunch of Brit's who learned from American blues artists, twisted it into their own thing, which I purchased and listened to, and have been trying to twist into my own thing ever since - lol...

I saw the title of this thread and thought to myself

My own personal "British Invasion" came a little later:

Black Sabbath
UFO
Led Zeppelin
Foghat
Judas Priest
Yes
Deep Purple
Bad Company
The Damned
Etc...

Yes!!!!

My expletive is acknowledging the entire post and not just a fondness for "Yes" per se...

Never heard of any of them, must be a generational thing ;-)

Hmmm...thinking back....it was Leslie West who first shook me with the opening riff to "Mississippi Queen," and opened me up to hard rock - around 1974.

Then in 1975, Angus' guitar tone blew my mind on a new level.

Then Rik Emmet and Triumph...

But British??? Hmmmm...

I did love Zeppelin, but I am not sure they impacted me when I was younger because they lacked that hard guitar tone that I loved.

I guess the very first British band that 'seriously' grabbed me was early Def Leppard - as in On Through The Night - and the guitar tone was just captivating to me...

I still have my concert shirt...
