chap 22 barbarian.jpg

BRUTAL SEX departs from their party boy, sex, drugs, and rock n roll style of music in BURNING MARBLE. This album is a commentary on today’s world, grim and unyielding sprinkled with messages of hope.

The title track, Burning Marble, sets the tone for the album. Slow and hard hitting, A commentary on today’s world with a message of hope.
Shoot ‘em Bang Bang is about children being unsafe to “go run and play as shoot em bang bang steals their joy away” with a creepy chorus riff that catches you off guard.
World Devoured compares the human race as a dark devouring organism, an odd time musical score.
Silent Killer a metaphor about a pandemic hiding in plain sight, thrashy fast metal
Spartans when a world power goes after “Modern-day Spartans ready to give their all”, thumpy hard old school metal riffs.
Lost Soul this song is a part two of SPARTANS, people displaced by the strife of war, riffs reminiscent of Sabbath.
The B side brings more hard hitting music
The Race can be interpreted in many ways, are the cars racing around the track about race, religion, sexual preference? It speaks to everyone differently. Thrashy riffs, screaming solos, this song hits home!
Generations from the greatest generation to now, people have changed with lines like “A world where strength and wisdom seem to fade from sight as generations go by”, BRUTAL SEX brings it!!
Pawns in the Game describes people being tricked by those in power, angry riffs help tell the tale.
Unwilling soldier “we all fight to get ahead and it’s a war into which we are bred” need I say more, the struggle of life is real and BRUTAL SEX didn’t let fame and fortune cloud their memory of it. with thunderous bass lines you can feel the weight of this song
Extinction a world in danger of extinction because of differences but there is still hope, the final message from the members of BRUTAL SEX tribal drums and high gain guitar riffs make this a must listen!

If you are brave enough to slip this into your CD player, and hit play, this is what just the first taste of an all out audio assault

NEXT We had McMeister Metal come fresh out of the studio with his World-Changing hot wax

chap 22 bad axis.jpg
It’s when the $hit hits the fan and you now call in the artillery to save your own hide.
So side one we have BAD LOVE as the lead off. It about dealing with bad relationships.
Whit a dose of steady rock.

Gutter Shuffle is a take on the homeless souls we see everywhere. and a pay it forward to an old band from the 80’s.
Defective is a mind splitting, manner of the lost souls.. that treats you to a busy piece of a Priest influence.
# 2 is a spontaneous piece we put together in our second rehearsal. Doesn’t really fit the theme, but we wanted it on the record
Sea of Life is a strong faith inspired piece of trying to mend all that is broken, with a generous dose of heavy healing guitars.
Runaway is how the lost souls got there to begin with, (on some of them) fast paced hard rocking bit.

Side 2

Locomotiv
e this is a train that is out of control and going down hill.. A very hard hitter.. especially when at any moment the $hit is going to hit the fan.
F# fast an furious, with a Metallica vibe
Predator the evil looking one on our cover,, death an delusional out comes of the street walking fools of the night.
Shadows in the Mirror Another Priest inspired rocker, and an inspiration to help the street walkers, see the damage they have submitted themselves to.
TRASH Another fast paced heavy hitting long piece what will happen when you can only stare at the ground, and not lift your head up and deal with every day life.
WHITE NOISE A cool and rocking composition that your brain signals, when you have had to much of the Shadows in the mirror.
BONUS TRACK
D.O.D. (Day of Days)
Mic Miesters way of paying respect to the years gone past June 6 1944 and to firmly plant a foot in this month , of something to hold with pride in your heart.

After you spark a bowl, lay this on the turntable, crank up the volume and here's how it opens

NEXT we have Heinous Anus with his FiveSkin band outing those who hold dominion over us, of hope, hopelessness, and then maybe some hope again, woven together in the timeless scatological theme

chap 22 fiveskin.jpg

Songlist:
MONUMENTS OF $HIT - an ode to where we came from, and where we're headed
TWO EVILS - a peaceful serenade that tells the tale of two figures, neither choice better than the other
FALSE IDOLS - a quick banger about what some might call "worship" of certain people
KENOSHA KID - a story about a small town kid who legally defended himself
LAND OF THE FALLEN HEROES - a song that remembers the former glory of what used to be
AR-15 VACCINE - one person's take on two different serious issues in the fabric of society leading up to it's inevitable collapse
BETWEEN ROCK & HARD PLACE - an illustration of the choices one man faced with no apparently good options
DISCLOSURE - a song about the government finally admitting things long known by those paying attention
GENDER OFFENDER - a sonata about a ...person... who may or may not offend you, others, or the laws of biology or ...mankind
JUNIOR'S LAPTOP -a quick rundown of the computer that almost damned the system
FECALITH - a headbanger that tells of what we will leave behind for incoming generations if we don't change course

The opening riff is some experimental musical mode called McBlinkian, and it may twist your head off and drop a steamy deuce right down your neck hole

Finally, rounding out our top four, Don Dagger of Squatcher brings his green concept which might save the whole dang planet!

chap 22 squatcher.jpg

The Way She Goes

The new concept album from Squatcher, “The Way She Goes”, paints a picture of the stark realization that we, as a species, are sucking the life out of this world. As we finally realize the problems of overpopulation, and taxing our environmental resources, we find the most bitter pill left for us…Is this mass of humanity too large for our environment to bear?…it may already be too late.

1: The Glade - Care free child’s play turns to something larger…more…frightening.
2: The Hunt - Something went wrong back there. Vengeance is sought.
3: Eyes Wide - Another view is presented, and it seems shockingly righteous.
4: Open and Shut - Everything comes into focus, and yet, everything is questionable.
5: Stalker - Other seekers are out there…beware.
6: Watcher - Secrets are protected by the watcher.
7: Sleeper - The sleeper awakens.
8: Cell - A band of like minded individuals bond together, sharing their observations.
9: Rust - Everything seems a bit rough around the joints…this may be coming apart soon.
10: Entropy - Has it all gone too far? There seems to be no escape now.
11: “42” - This is it? The end of the trail? The Way She Goes…Why is there a rabbit bone in my beard?

Dagger shows his Studio Studliness with "Way She Goes" The opening track "The Glade" begins with an eerie, foresty, folksy, down-falling intro, that gives way to a bulldozer riff, set to clear-cut your world

3 votes each, yes?

This has been very hard!! I can only describe my findings and thought patterns here and hope it makes sense.

Riff / lyrics was hard cause I liked some riffs and some lyrics separately. I tried to take an unbiased look at each part of each entry and attempt to score it based upon the challenge and the concept chosen. Also my own personal likes of the riffs etc has to subconsiously be there! I did not consider who was posting, I couldn't, or you all win!!

So I will chicken out and give some ties here, the material is too strong not to.

Brutal Sex – Excellent concept, good title. Song titles and descriptions cover a lot of ground but stay on point.

Bad Axis – Very cool concept, Songs cover a variety of situations that fit except for a couple.

Fiveskin – very dark, depressing, honest and extremely effective!

Squatcher – Important concept, the songs all fit well.

RIFFS

Brutal Sex – heavy, driving, catchy chorus part

Bad Axis – interesting catchy riff, parts flow together well. Tonally one of my favorite.

Fiveskin – interesting chords and riffs as well, heavy, wanna bang my head to it.

Squatcher – unique take, very moody clean chords and the impact when it gets heavy is very effective!

LYRICS

Brutal Sex – Very poetic, to the point. Effective.

Bad Axis – Nice repetitive chorus.

Fiveskin – Very effective lyrics!

Squatcher – Mysterious and poetic.

COVERS –

Brutal – Very effective, the conceptual point is well made from the cover and seems to fit the current situation around here.

Bad Axis – Cool critter on cover, I like the Broken Arrow logo

Fiveskin – a dark, perfect cover for the concept.

Squatcher – very cool artwork, front cover is amazing, nice back design too and fits the theme.

So given all the above, I would like Poopknife to.... no, just kidding. I think I will score it like this.

Best Cover/front and back – Brutal Sex and Squatcher
Best Theme/songs/descriptions – Brutal Sex, Fiveskin
Best Riff and lyrics – Squatcher and Fiveskin

I really liked Bad Axis Riff but had to score it with the lyrics as one and I just found some of the other lyrics to be more effective for the subject.
I also really liked Brutal Sex lyrics (and riff) but had to compare riff/lyrics to everyone else. So it was an awkward decision.

In the end I couldn't ignore certain entries in certain categories so we have the ties I'm afraid.
Hope it doesn't come down to my bonus points....
Please don't take any of my remarks or votes personally.
Cheers

Well played sir! I, for one, am glad I was not in your shoes for this one…super tough in so many aspects. The album art alone was an excellent display for all entrants IMHO…never mind the rest of the material.

@Jethro Rocker thank you for your judgementations ... fair and well-reasoned, are you sure you're from my home province?

One thing that really says Saskatchewan is power blackouts --- I'm in one right now and my genny is not the type for computers and such. haven't fired it up yet. Big t-storm went through this aft.

The vote for immunity still ends tonight... but sorry, I cannot start Chapter 23 without access to my desktop.

Keep voting! If you didnt like your first vote, vote again!
