Von Herndon Double Neck:

Say Athos--- why are the headstockie decalies inlayed in different sizes......seems to the naked eye a "same size" option could have been done saving csot aand time to alter sizes

just curious

They actually are the same size when viewed in person.

Time for the unveiling....originally, the six string neck was built first....and I did nit like the logo. I thought it was too big. So, I asked for a smaller logo on the 12 string neck...which I didn't like either. The builder offered to redo the logo/veneer on both necks free of charge, but the finish was so beautiful that I could not bear the thought of them being cut on. So, much like the famous stamp, its a very unique oddity.

Extra wide necks. Ebony fretboard, hand carved volutes, small allen style truss rod cavities for strength...necks measure 1.0" thick from 12th to 1st fret.

I pulled the image because the serial number is my birthdate.

A last minute change - Pickups are custom wound Thro-Bak SLE-101's - The resistance values measure 8.24k for the bridge and 7.67k for the neck with long A2 magnets.

Robert...your guitar is so black, it could not be labelled any more blacker!

I like the way both logo's look. I also like the fact you used the two different ones too. Congrat's on the custom double neck.

I struggled with it for a while....then accepted it. I think I have been an uncompromising jerk long enough.

I noticed you have no control knobs yet on your masterpiece. What kind are you going to put on? I know...black speed knobs! I think that would look sweet and functional.

Very eager to drive up and pick this up....make a mini-vacation out of the trip...Hopefully, this will replace ALL my current guitars...

How many guitars do you currently own Robert? I own under 20 guitars myself but I'm trying to thin the herd. I don't have much space to store them. I think 6 to 8 guitars is adequate for any guitarist. It becomes OCD when you have a full warehouse of guitars. I knew someone on another forum that literally had hundreds of guitars and had to build a huge storage garage to house them all.

Well, I have my 2005 Hellraiser, 1987 Fender Stratocaster, 1984 Ibanez Destroyer II replica, my new Von Herndon Doubleneck and my 2016 Gibson SG.

That's the most I have ever owned at one time!

I've been downsizing.

I gave the 1987 Fender to my 9 year old Son as a gift. He was ready for a bigger guitar.

I do not count the 21 out of 25 Von Herndon's I built and sold.

I have just 4 of those Von Herndon's left. Prototype #1 I gave to my oldest Son for Christmas.

Stagecrafter #12 is going to Marty Stuart as a gift and #13 and #14 are going to local musicians right after we move.

I will keep the Destroyer as a keepsake. I only played it on Def Leppard covers, but its a favorite of my music students.

The Hellraiser is up for sale, so my plan now is to get down to just my Gibson SG and my Double Neck...
