Von Herndon Double Neck:

So, the Kevin Taylor Erupter is coming out to make way for a 10k Von Herndon MotherBucker, built from a shoe box full of junk pickups. It features double-screw bobbins and triple magnets pirated from a 500T.

This will go in with the current 1 Meg Ω volume pot and 0.01uf K40Y capacitor, both of which have really brightened the somewhat dark tone of this 11.5 pound solid mahogany beast.

So, yesterday i had time to play the doubleneck at very high volume levels - something i am not often able to do...and i was disappointed to say the least.

There is this wild harmonic overtone to every note that is played on the bridge pickup....kinda like a 'background metallic clank' of sorts...almost like you have the reverb cranked but its all the way off.

The current bridge pickup is an Artec Classic Standard - with an A4 magnet - and measuring around 7.8k.

The Classic Standard is an early PAF replica, right down to the wood spacers and unpotted construction, attributes which are not happy at these stage volumes.

The neck pickup is currently an Artec GVH59, which is a clone of a 59 PAF, with an A5 magnet. It seems to sound fine and has no bad habits.

I really want to start using this guitar more often, but i need to correct this behavior first and foremost.

So, I'm thinking either a Gibson 498T or an Epiphone H8BN in the bridge???
