They all look the same.
Not very pretty but incredible ergonomics,
especially the asymmetric neck carve.

That's a real nice guitar Tony Manhattan! Ernie Ball guitars are top-notch. They also usually have the Buzz Feiten tunning system. You'll notice on the nut that it is stagered like the bridge saddles. It helps a lot especially when playing up on the fretboard...stays in tune better than a coventional nut. Ernie Ball hit the nail right on the headstock with that tuning system. Hopefully your New York Godzilla won't take down the Empire State building with one swing of your 6-string beast. I bet your guitar can handle it because it's tough like nails!

YOu seem to lean toward the EBMM line.......I am NOT overly familiar with them.......do they have USA and China options as I see WIDE pricing gaps iin models...I have played several of the basses.....the Stingray I recall liking ---the prices range online from 300 to over 2K --- assume china vs usa??

I have seen these as well......and TBTH this really strikes my interest. Seems a fine bit of kit.....

Played a few, mostly MM Luke's, which are still quite popular with session guitarists, but, I am yet to see one in person (not on the shelf, but in the studio) that hasn't been converted to a Floyd Rose, so I cannot comment on the stock tremolo system, FWIW....

...but have pushed that arm as far down
as I can and the guitar comes right back to pitch and tune.

Not meaning to start an argument...just an inquiry....

Can you do that repeatedly in a gig setting or did you try that one time, just as an experiment?

???????

Now, now, Biddlin...there's no need to go there.

Admittedly, the setup to my question could be perceived as trolling, but I meant it as an honest question.

I've made observations/decisions on my gear in the past while in the privacy of my own home that didn't seem to pan out on stage.

Didn't Relic have good things to say about a similar non locking trem on a couple of PRS guitars that he uses for gigging?

Only those who would force their opinion upon you will reject an honest question.

I too am curious, Smitty.....I used to drop my Destroyer until the pickup magnets grabbed the strings with a loud thump and it would come right back to pitch...

Provided you tune a Strat by repeatedly pushing down on the trem, and making the note right when it returns, you can do a whole evening in tune. What you can't then do is pull up on the trem and return to tune. This isn't a problem - a very quick downward dab after a lift is all you need.

OK SMITTY! YOU FREAKIN' ASKED FOR IT AND HERE IT COMES!

In a gig setting using that guitar all evening.
It's my only tremolo equipped guitar and if I have it on my "style"
of playing includes a lot of tremolo use, chord shimmers, bends in
both directions, harmonic dives, etc.

The trick is as follows:
Get there half an hour early.
Tune the guitar.
(Do what Don said.)
Let the guitar acclimatize for 20 mins.
Wiggle the trem again.
Tune the guitar (if needed).
Good to go for the evening.

Maybe a slight touchup between sets but I will do that with a hardtail too.

I bet New York Godzilla has a hard-tail on him. You can't knock him out of tune there Tony Manhattan!

Thanks, Tony!

Very informative.

(Thanks to you, too, Don!)

Oh, I wouldn't characterize Biddlin that way (if, indeed you have Biddlin in mind, since I responded to his post).

Biddy is a good chap. I've got no issues with him. Sometimes, he and I do a little light-hearted sparring (usually over Floyd Rose, interestingly enough!). It's all good, and I appreciate him.

My biggest complaint is the troll picture he used. I look nothing like that. The hair color is all wrong and I don't have any dental issues like that! Also, I'm nowhere near that hairy, and my face has NEVER been blue! I could go on....

But, what's a guy gonna do!

Legendary Blues Bo Biddlin can do anything he wants, but he don't know Diddley!

It was a philosophical statement and it did not make intentional reference to anyone....
