Flash I think....I snapped a digital photo ofvthe old print.

People thought I was Bill Bartlett's kid...
 
I always made my own from leather. The saddle shop would let me cut and punch my own leather. My 19 year old son has the strap now....

here's a pretty retro image, from about 1968.
I was 20. Student at University of Michigan. 2-S Deferment.
A year later, I was in the first draft lottery, and I got #265.
They called a lot of numbers out of that first draft group, but
they didn't get to mine.

So I never served. I am no Colonel. I was against the war, but
not against the guys who did their duty. I was against the politicians
who wrongly sent them there. It's a long time later. Let it be.

You can tell I had an attitude, even so.
