I did a thread earlier this year about my Line 6 Variax 700, it’s an older guitar with 25+ guitars built in.

I really like that guitar, for playability it can’t be beat. But I think I may have beat it.

So here is my Variax Standard Line 6 Strat made in 2015 I picked up last weekend. I have had a week playing this now and it’s impressive

Not only do I have all the selectable guitars like Les Paul and LP with P90’s, or Gibson Acoustic it also has traditional Alnico pickups that sound sweet. On a separate switch is the alternative tuning, drop D open G ec

This one has a rechargeable 8-12 hour battery and quality build. Came with a hard case too.D6F5C715-D60E-4E94-B6C6-BCF1E0042058.jpeg876DDC88-0CEB-4AED-ABA4-1FED8A675C62.jpeg967C6F54-8DEF-4DFF-A915-50F5573FBF46.jpeg8C2FD9BF-F1F3-414A-BE7C-2169ADF5B0C6.jpegD6F5C715-D60E-4E94-B6C6-BCF1E0042058.jpeg876DDC88-0CEB-4AED-ABA4-1FED8A675C62.jpeg967C6F54-8DEF-4DFF-A915-50F5573FBF46.jpeg8C2FD9BF-F1F3-414A-BE7C-2169ADF5B0C6.jpeg

It feels like a good strat, not sure what it is about these Variax guitars for me the necks are just right, the playability is the main reason I went up scale. I don’t care what name is on the headstock, if I can’t play it it’s sold

I have heard many good reviews on the BUILD quality and playability---
LIKE they BUILT a good guitar TOO hold some trick electronics--- NOT -- HEY SLAP THIS COOL GIZMO IN A CHEAP ASS GUITAR!

you have placed Variax on my --- if I find one cheap lurking in the swamps--- it will be mine -- LIST lol

The build quality of the 300 and 500 is said to be not so good so I read. But the 700 is a made in Japan product and is just amazing. The Standard has the newer electronics, Acoustic is improved and is made in the Yamaha factory. The attention to detail again is top notch.

The Variax is on my radar-----if I can swing a trade deal out there---I will ---but no MEGA GAS at present
they arent priced to bad on the used market really---

That looks great!
I had one of the first ones, a 300. It was plagued with issues.
But when it worked it was amazing.
Always looked odd to me being a guitar without pickups.
This newer one looks like a regular guitar. A very nice regular guitar.
Hmmm, I may have to revisit one of these.

The Variax is a very nice guitar. Like Adrian said, they are quality instruments in their own right with some very cool electronics thrown in.

I had the Les Paul style model for a couple years and as usual sold it off...I'd buy another one in a minute if I found a good deal!

Enjoy!
