I have a VT30, and the way it works is that it has a small valve amp that is the source of tone, crunch - everything you want, and it is followed by what amounts to a transistor Hi Fi amp with no sonic characteristics. This provides the 30 watts.
So it occurred to me that this could be the basis of a really big amp, and all the bits could go in the box with the rest. So I bought all the necessary bits from Ebay. They weigh roughly nothing, and with an external speaker I will have a 300W amp.

That's two power supplies and the 300W amp. The whole thing has cost me £30. How's that for a deal?
